Dropping this review because I’ve moved away from Iowa and am absolutely missing Masala’s Chicken Tikka Masala and Butter Chicken. Have eaten at Indian restaurants across the U.S. and nothing comes close.
Be mindful in the summers, as it can get really warm inside Masala. But this is the price you pay for perfectly cooked chicken from the clay oven.

I’ve been going here since high school, college, and now my master’s program here. I don’t know if they’ve had a management change, but this past year I’ve had terrible experiences with them time and time again. After eating the biriyani, my dad and I had severe stomach issues. Another day, I ordered only plain raita to take home and I couldn’t eat it at all. It tasted extremely sour indicating that the yogurt had been spoiled. I am not happy at all with this restaurant that once would satisfy my Indian cravings. If I could give a below 1 rating, I would.

The Aloo Tikki here is seriously underrated—definitely worth trying! I’d highly recommend both the aloo tikki and the samosa. The Paneer Tikka Masala is also quite flavorful, and don’t miss out on the refreshing mango lassi to complete your meal.

We ate here last night and my husband has been sick all day with food poisoning after eating a cold tandoori chicken and cold shrimp. Two of us also ordered spicy and there was no spice to it at all. I ordered the korma masala spicy and it was so sweet. I was really disappointed of the lack of spice. We also constantly heard the beep of a microwave throughout our dining experience, so it makes me wonder if they are just heating up the food.

The Food is very Good and Hot, I have always had a good and taste food with the ambiance along with the hospitality is very very good. I know some Indians might not feel as Spicy and Authentic but most of the Items are very Good INDIAN tasty Dishes. MUST TRY items are Spicy Chicken/Lamb/Shrimp Tikka masala, Tandoori Chicken, Garlic Naan, Mango Lassi, Samosas, pakoras, Also check out the Vegetarian dishes like Paneer Tikka masala, Masala Dal, Alu Gobi, Veg Jalfreiji, Kadia Paneer, with Plan\Garlic Naan. Complete it with the sweets like Gulab Jamun, Kheer(Rice Pudding) etc.. Check out the Lunch Buffet(11-2.30), and To-Go Lunch Boxes at very reasonable prices.
