I travel across country for work and have eaten at some pretty good soulfood spots . Hands down this is the best place I've eaten at. I had the chicken with two sides, everything was seasoned to perfection 👌. 💯💯this is a must try for soul food lover's 🔥

Fantastic food! We love the fried catfish and the porkchops. The mac and cheese is heavenly. And the collards and Candied Yams are to die for.
My husband and I always get the dessert too - his favorite is the strawberry shortcake but I love the apple salad.

I don’t know if it was bc I was fried or what but that fried catfish was fried so perfectly, it had the perfect crunch and it wasn’t dry. The green beans were some of the best I’ve ever eaten, whatever seasoning was added definitely topped it off. The Mac&Cheese was super cheesy and gooey it tasted so good, and the yams were the right amount of sweet to make me like them and I don’t even eat yams and the cornbread muffins weren’t dry !! 110/10

The food here is fantastic! We're from North Carolina, and this is the best fried pork chops and catfish I've ever had. Super crispy and well seasoned. We also love the sides. The mac and cheese is to die for, and this is the only place I've found for collard greens in Iowa City. The price is very reasonable considering the amount of food you get.
We've also tried 2 desserts - the strawberry cheesecake and the taffy apple were delicious. Can't wait to try the others!
The food is made fresh, so it can take around 15 minutes to come out. If you're in a hurry, order ahead through grubhub. But it's well worth it. Highly recommend- We've been 3 times in two weeks!

The catfish was PERFECT--the crunchy breading, the seasoning, the juiciness, nothing could have been better. The mac & cheese was creamy, and the fried cabbage flavorful, with just the right amount of heat. The atmosphere was familial and relaxed. I'll definitely be going back!
