Not authentic at all! Please add some basics (more cilantro on side/fresh veggies and lime slices!) This food is TOO Americanized. The sauce looks like it came directly out of the can. I had to ask for corn tortillas because that is the one thing this restaurant should get right when it comes to serving this type of food. Don't say your authentic and not have agua de Jamaica (Hibiscus Juice) don't say your authentic and you put a very tiny portion of cheese in refried beans). Very disappointed, never coming back. Rename the restaurant to Gringo Taquila. La gente, aunque sean gringos merecen mucho mejor! The only thing I appreciated was the waiter who was very nice.

The service is always fast when I’m here. The queso is always hot and the salsa is always good. I always order the same meal, but I’m always happy with the result. Love this place!!

Feel bad about giving them 4 stars as all other reviews are 5 stars, but somebody has to keep it real.
Ordered the choriqueso dip on my first visit & it was decent, just a tad bit more grease than other Mexican restaurants. Also, I scheduled the order for pickup earlier in the day and when I arrived to pickup the order, I still had to wait at least 10 minutes for them to prepare it. Which would’ve been understandable if the restaurant was packed, but only the employees occupied the restaurant at that time. Second visit, I ordered the steak Mexican tacos. The portion sizes were a bit skimp for $4 a taco, and it lacked flavor. The hot salsa is one of its kind and probably my favorite thing on the menu, that I’ve tried so far. I added some to my tacos and it revived the flavor. No comparison to Si Senor 2, but a good alternative.

Tequila grill is hands down the best Mexican food I’ve had in the Iowa city/coralville area. The prices are extremely reasonable and service is extremely quick and the food comes at an excellent quality. If you’re in Iowa city and craving Mexican food definitely come to tequila grill.

We have been regulars here since they opened this past summer. it’s such a wonderful addition to the Mormon Trek neighborhood. The food is delicious and always comes out quickly. We enjoy coming here frequently just my husband and I or with friends too. It’s one of the main places we recommend to anyone in the Iowa City area looking for a bite to eat.
Great food, good complimentary salsa and chips, kind servers. I know the space is new so wanted to go easy on "atmosphere", I'm sure it will improve as they become more established. I believe the margaritas may be entirely a pre-mix which I would encourage to move away from as a practice, but enjoyed my time for sure!
Try it out support your local business! Can't improve if you don't get the chance to.
