Sadly shut down/out of business overnight. Was the best place out of all Iowa City! Thai Spice ‘restaurant’ on Gilbert is not the same business or menu and don’t recommend :(

Its an authentic thailand cuisine. Im very particular about authenticity so for those who would like to venture out and try a genuine thailand cuisine this is the place I recommend. ?

Ordered take out. Figured for a noodle house they would have good noodles. Looked great at first and we were excited as we love trying different restaurants. We have tried these dishes at many other places as well as made it at home but this was truly inedible. The chicken was chewing and dry, little to no sauce, noodles were mush. It has zero flavor or spice. We ordered 3 dishes, all were nasty. The vegetables all had a very weird texture I have never experienced and are almost sour. Had two bites of each and will now have a stomach ache the rest of the night. Portions are huge but definitely not worth it. Will not go back. Spent $56 for a pile of shit. I'm not the type to post yelp reviews but I have never had this bad of food.

The service was stellar, a rare finding now. I had the beef pad Thai. The food was solid quality. The atmosphere is residential strip mall. I would come back.

Came to Iowa city for a doctor visit, came by myself today to try the food as I've been missing home. I am Laotian and it's hard to find good Thai and Lao food in my area. Got the Chicken egg rolls, very good, extremely crispy, dipping sauce is authentic. Also got the Papaya salad, Beef laap and beef pad see ew with sticky rice and a Thai iced tea and that was all pretty good as well especially the Thai tea, very rich and sweet. They also give you a little salad and the dressing was A++++ so good. Cook/owner came out to greet me and she was very sweet and kind. Very cute and clean inside. Loved the spice level, got a 5 for everything. I spent about $60 but I did order a lot of food as our culture is used to having multiple dishes to enjoy. I don't mind paying for what I want. They do have a lunch menu that was pretty reasonable. Would recommend and would go again if I'm in the area.

I mistakenly ordered from here because this restaurant has the same name as another Thai restaurant in Iowa City. They are no longer owned by the same people. So don’t make the same mistake I did. I ordered the Tom Yum soup, which was pretty good, but not the same as the OG restaurant with the same name. It came with fried tofu, when I just wanted soft tofu. The food was good, but please consider changing the name of this restaurant. Have your own unique identity.

I love Thai Spice Noodle House! Especially #25 Kang Keow Wan with added chicken. They have quality Green Curry with just the right amount of heat. I can't get past this dish to try all the others but the few alternatives I have tried have been delicious.

No idea how this place has such great reviews. 5 of us went out for an early dinner. We were the only people there at 6pm on a Saturday night. The waiter acted as if it was an imposition to have to bother with us. I had to literally go get him off his phone to order some apps while we were waiting for 2 of our party. He brought water for the table, but never asked if we would like anything to drink. He did come and refill the waters twice. Took our food orders promptly and the food did come quickly. Now the food. 2 of us had the pho. It was quite literally the worst I've ever had. I've had instant soup with more flavor. Also every place I've ever had pho it came with a plate of garnishes. Nope. They did put some cilantro in the bowl and maybe 4 bean sprouts. The spring rolls again, worst I've had. Basically a large pile of lettuce in a rice wrapper. 1/2 a flavorless shrimp, 1 carrot stick and if you got lucky 1 slice of bell pepper, maybe 5 noodles in each. These were served stuck together so once you unstuck one from another it was torn and you were basically left with a pile of lettuce. The thai duck with basil Chile sauce had decent flavor, but was "bone in". Ok so some picking to be expected, but in reality it must have been the back or something and after eating 1/3 of the plate was nothing but bones. We also had the duck fried rice. Flavorless. The one person whose meal was edible had the duck soup. Large chunks of meaty duck. Nice baby bok choy. To top off our less than stellar meal. On a party of 5 they added on an automatic 18% tip. Now this may have been stated somewhere on the menu. I honestly don't know. We didn't get irate over it. I don't know when 5 people became considered a large party and needed to have a tip added on.Would not recommend this place bad food and poor service. Others have mentioned poor service, but the quality of the food was just sad.

Food was bland. Had to ask multiple times for condiments and when they arrived they were empty. Two ppl said their duck dishes were ok. They also put gratuity on a party of five, Idk how they applied it after tax. Staff seemed absolutely disinterested in us and had to be asked to take piled dishes in the way.

The food here is excellent. The service is great! We did not have reservations so we sat at the bar. I strongly recommend the food is worth it!
