I have seen this coffee shop evolve from Capanna, to Coffee Emporium, and now Midnight Coffee. I spent a lot of time there while it was Capanna and loved it but I have to say, the changes they have made since it has become Midnight Coffee is my absolute favorite. From the great coffee, to the partnering with local pastry shops, to the new interior design, and the new Merch…..the VIBE is immaculate as people younger than me would say. Highly recommended making Midnight Coffee your new coffee spot in North Liberty and the Corridor region. They have other locations in Iowa city and tiffin as well I believe.
Our favorite Iowa City coffee shop. Lots of great gfree options, too!

I've spent some time in the hospital this year. The Coffee Emporium is just a short walk away and my life saver! Thanks for the great coffee, friendly service and accessibility!❤️
The authentically warm and kind staff at Coffee Emporium in Iowa City, IA: You all provided a “third place” for me to work on The Music of the Spheres Gone Acoustic. It’s now about to cross the finish line. The intersection at Linn and Market became a genuine home with tea and banana bread as daily bonuses. What made it truly special, however, was that each of you, in your unique way, is simply the real deal. When I moved to Des Moines, now a year and a half ago and was looking for a new place to write and read, it first had to pass the Coffee Emporium Warmth Test: Are the people unpretentious and thoughtful in a way that even approaches the warmth and authenticity of the CE folks? Basically, you guys are the ones who set the Welcome bar wonderfully high, challenging all of us to reach for HIGHer GROUND… new name, same "business at its best" spirit!! Thank YOU.

Used to be my favorite place to stop but has started going downhill with new owners. Firing my favorite OG barista was the final nail in the coffin.
I’m brand new to Iowa city and wanted to try some new places upon moving here and initially this place sounded like it could be a great spot. I got a cinnamon roll and hot chocolate and quite frankly wasn’t impressed in the slightest. Flavor of my drink was very much bland compared to hot chocolate I could make at home, and cinnamon roll tasted stale/was tough. Ended up just throwing my order out and going to a bagel shop near my place of work instead. The staff seemed nice enough but very much uninterested in what was going on in front of them. In my experience 9/10 management is the root problem when it comes to staff issues/disinterest in any job. Seeing as I’m not an employee nor have I been (nor will I be) a frequent customer I cannot speak to that situation beyond those points, but I think management at the very least needs to be sure the product they’re trying to sell is at the very least edible with a team interested enough to ensure the same.
