Friendly staff, unique fishbowl options but the place reeks of grease from the kitchen. My friend and I have been in a few times and the smell is constantly present. The last time I was in for 1 drink and I had to go home to change my coat because of smell.

We ordered tanks, and they were insanely weak. Rather than alcohol, they were just pure sugar. We actually started to get headaches from the sugar. Also would not recommend the appetizers. The fries were dry and bland. The cheese curds were $9, and when they came it was like 8 mini lukewarm mozzarella sticks. Would not recommend.

Very rude customer service. Talked s*** about me as I walked by trying to find the bathroom. Very disappointed. Would not recommend to others. Wouldn't want anyone else to feel how I felt being here.
Van Bs is absolutely electric! 10/10 would recommend it to anyone. The bartender goes by Toc and always is quick to strike conversation. Really cares for his customers but runs a no nonsense operation. Great food too!

This place has a lot of potential. It's a big space with room for groups, and it's a good spot to watch Iowa games. We ordered a couple appetizers, and they were really good. However, it doesn't appear the bar has a clear focus on what type of crowd they are trying to attract. They are a little farther off campus, so it's seems like a good place for a non college-crowd. The bar selection was pretty basic though. They ran out of Jack Daniels and said they don't order it often, because people rarely request it. It also was not very crowded for a game day, and it seemed they were having trouble staying busy. I hope they can find their niche, because this would be a great place for alums and graduate students to frequent.
