Extremely professional and friendly staff. Wife enjoyed the eggs, bacon and pancakes. I had a chicken, egg and sausage burrito nearly as big as my forearm! Very clean and comfortable restaurant. Next time I'm definitely getting one of their trademark pies.

Friendly staff but understaffed. Waited over 30 minutes to receive order. I ordered tomato soup and regular grilled cheese, I received chicken noodle soup with tomato, bacon, cheese and the toast had cheese in the breading. My son’s order was correct. I think it’d run more smoothly with more staff, but who isn’t understaffed anymore these days.

Very friendly place and it was relaxing. The owner was very personable and the food was really good. So good that I came back a second day in a row. The first day I had their pancakes and the second day, I had the omelet. I was also very happy that they served Pepsi Products. Not sure why there was a 1 rating. Would recommend for breakfast.

Food quality and quantity has gone downhill since the remodel. 3,50 for a soda and had to ask for a refill after empty for 10 minutes. Portions definitely way smaller. Precooked bacon. Bad cafeteria food at best. Been eating here 20+ years. Sad to see

The food was amazing and the atmosphere was quiet and pleasant.

Kid-friendliness: The kids were given crayons and activities to do while they waited for their food.

Shea was so amazing!! Somehow his order accidentally got mixed up, and she was so kind on encouraging my partner to try it, he ended up liking it! Regardless of the mistake, shea made us feel comfortable and welcomed! Love her and we will back to visit!!

The server was the only one on the floor and the manager or greeter guy didn't really help her. food was basically what you would expect from a place called The Village Inn. it wasn't the best. it wasn't the worst. my low star rating though is due to the chicken fried steak. don't do the chicken fried steak.

Village Inn is a corporate chain restaurant much like Perkins or Country Kitchen with breakfast served all day. I went to the newly renovated Iowa City location twice. Both time were the same scenario. Seated and order taken pretty quickly but I had to wait 45 minutes for cold food and small, overpriced portions. The hash browns weren't even cooked. Both times the server apologized for the wait and blamed the kitchen for being understaffed. The servers did the best they could but no manager in sight. This is not the same Village Inn I grew up loving. They seem to be more concerned with selling pies than providing good food at a fair price in a timely manner.
