“Great, they didn’t give us a baked potato that was ordered, but everything was delicious“

“This place is underrated!!! We have driven past this place for 3 years and decided to stop and try it tonight. You walk in and get a Texas BBQ feel. My husband got the Brisket Cheesesteak sandwich and described the meat as being Smokey and tender & the cheese sauce made it even better. I ordered Papa’s Boneless wings 1/2 dry rub & 1/2 cactus bobs house sauce. Both delicious! The wings were tender & not stringy like most boneless wings I’ve had. We also ordered the fried pickles which were outstanding and not like anything we have tried before. The pickles were speared and tasted like they were candied instead of the basic dill taste. Delicious!! We will be back.“

“In for the ISF, decided to try Smokey D's as it was on Diner, Drive-Ins and Dives. Great atmosphere and food was amazing and filling. Got apple dumplings to go. Whenever in Des Moines, will be back.“
“I ordered carry out on election evening. I ordered the rib & meat plate. I chose pulled pork, BBQ Beans, and Mac & cheese for my sides.
Ribs were outstanding. The seasoning was perfect, and they were very juicy. Pulled pork was perfectly tender and had that smoky flavor. BBQ beans had chuncks of meat in with them. I am picky about my beans and these were on point. The corn bread was a bit cake-like for me. But I appreciate you having corn bread instead of garlic bread.
Food was excellent, the service was outstanding, and I will be going back. Need to try some tacos and the brisket. Looking for a new place to break up the monotony of chains, this is a great place to start!!“

“New to the East side, and still are working on getting correct orders because of that, but we were glad there were a couple of order mistakes because we got to try things we might not have otherwise! The brisket sandwiches are amazing as is the smoked Turkey! Piled high with just the right amount of smoke and the sauce was perfect! I’m glad I got the smoked Turkey as it was tender and juicy,. I am allergic to onions so I usually can’t eat potato salad at restaurants, but their has no onions and was wonderful! And the fried Okra was so good! It was getting busy, so the owners little girl brought us menus and we were got to talk to her… such a nice family and such a great addition to the East side! We will definitely be back“

“Came in today (Friday) around 3pm. Just in time for half-price appetizers! Happy Hour runs from 3pm-6pm Monday through Friday, apparently. We got the fried cheese squares (yum! I drizzled mine with BBQ sauce), a medium-rare bacon grilled cheese burger, and a two-meat platter with two sides. Everything came out in a timely manner, the food tasted great, right temps, the sauces were fantastic, the server and food runner were on top of things, and drinks were kept filled! Everything was perfect from start to finish! We did not experience the noise some others have complained about, but they were not too terribly busy at this time.“

“Great Place. Had the brisket and burnt ends, baked beans, cream corn w/ jalapenos and corn muffin.
Brisket was tender & lean w/ a bit of fat (flavor!). Burned ends were good, in a sauce, maybe the normal BBQ sauce, a little sweet.
Service was quick and Server, "D?" was helpful, personable and friendly. Great Job!
Sauces were good. Five to choose from. I enjoyed the spicy.“

“Service and atmosphere was great. Great bar with an excellent selection of local craft brews on tap. Barbecue was OK. I’m from South Louisiana, and just really had to try the jambalaya out of a sense of curiosity. Nobody would eat this. If they want an authentic recipe, hit me up.“

“The family stopped for lunch because they have jambalaya in the name on some of their locations and my wife is a huge gumbo fan. The food was very good. I like the jalapeno creamed corn. My wife enjoyed the gumbo. The corn muffins were very sweet and we both wished it'd been a corn bread, instead of muffin. The pulled pork was very good but they have Alabama white sauce so of course it's going to be good with that. The staff was nice. There is a tiny free lot behind the building that may fill up quickly, depending on the day's events.“
