Cozy Café Johnston Reviews
We came in for Father’s Day brunch. It took over 45 minutes to get our food, never checked in on us, no drink refills, had to ask for condiments and missing food. Very disappointed in the poor service as our last visit was good.
My coworker and I ordered breakfast to go this morning from Cozy Cafe in Johnston. When I picked up the order the bag was tied shut so I did not look at the order. I had lunch with a friend and had The BEST tenderloin ever! It fit a good sized bun and was thick and cooked to perfection. Onion rings were exactly how I like them. Going tomorrow for brunch. I will have the tenderloin. Great place!

Cozy Café Johnston offers a great breakfast with a standout country sausage gravy and a large dinner menu to explore. The restaurant maintains an old-school diner vibe, with booths, tables, and a counter, staying true to its look without veering from its authentic style. Located just off Highway 80, it is a popular stop for travelers passing through Des Moines, only 15 minutes from Ankeny's District. The atmosphere is lively, with a mix of couples and groups, and the service is quick and attentive. Parking is convenient and immediately off Highway 80, with no issues. The menu includes Blue Plate Specials, which are highly recommended, and the food is generally good, though some dishes like pancakes may fall short. Despite some signs of wear and tear, the restaurant provides friendly service and fair pricing, making it a great spot for breakfast and more in the western suburbs.
