Stopped by yesterday while visiting my aunt that lives 45min from there. She hyped it up by saying they made nothing but home made cheese. I think the only “home made cheese” was the curds and that’s it. A gallon of milk was already spoiled with an expiration date of the next day. They do have Neat and cute little souvenir
I was in town for a job and as I was leaving I saw a gigantic sign for "cheese curds" so, of course, I stopped. It's like an old-fashioned grocery store with a bit of old-school production machinery sprinkled throughout. After sampling a few things, I bought a bag of cheese curds and some ice cream. Everything was great! Love the food items and the merch here. The staff was also great! It's obviously a hot tourist spot because travelers kept popping in! You can satisfy all of your hometown dairy needs here!
I've been visiting the Kalona Creamery over many decades. It's evolved over the years and keeps getting better. In addition to their own wonderful selection of cheese and dairy products, they have a great selection of local foods. In creating partnerships with local producers, they are empowering the community. An example is their Mocha Cold Brew made with Capanna Cold Brew and Kalona Supernatural Whole Milk. Very delicious. The Kalona area is home to a diverse community. It's nice to see people working together to create such wonderful products and a thriving economy.
We drove an hour and 10 minutes to ensure we would get fresh cheese curds. Not only were they not fresh but the date sticker was pasted over the previous sticker and all four bags had mold in them. I will NEVER go there again!
Two friends got stuff home and found it was quite moldy! And one of them found that the expiration date stickers had been messed with. That's inexcusable. I'll never patronize your business again.
Not alot of selections for cheese , milk was also limited. 1st day after holiday weekend they hadn't made any cheeses to restock, but I did get some curds which were also very few for selection. Came from by the Mississippi River to buy cheese then not much to choose from or even buy, very disappointed.
If you are looking for healthy dairies, your only options are milk, whipping cream, and yogurt-which you can also buy at Natural Grocers, Iowa City.
I had high hopes of getting some quality ice cream, but they use carrageenan and other additives in them. Tried their chocolate chunks and it tastes like a chunk of sugar.
I am not coming back, thank you!
This is a quaint little shop selling all sorts of dairy products, notably cheese. The place is very cow-themed, with little different decorations throughout the shop. However, the best part is their delicious handmade ice cream. They serve several original flavors and they come with a cute chocolate cow as a topping.
Great place to stop and enjoy! Great ice cream!
Love stopping by this little shop. Great grocery and gift shop selections!

Love everything they sell!
Delicious ice cream I used to go here every year with my family when we visited
Lots of fun items. Fudge was excellent and fun cotton candy flavors.
Fresh Cheese Curds. The Best!
I guess my review is based on how it was when I lived in that area compared to what it is now. A little unfair perhaps. I gave it three stars because they have Edgewood locker meat. I love that stuff. Didn't they have sandwiches at one time? The cashier couldn't crack a smile if she had to. I felt like I was imposing on her.
