“We had the most amazing Easter dinner thanks to Dandy's BBQ. Ham Balls, cheesy taters, corn casserole ,Mac and cheese enough for like 10 mmmmm so good plenty to go around too! bag leftovers too .Highly recommend them. very very tasty and homemade comfort food.”

“The staff at Pasta Bella are wonderful. They were able to easily accommodate seating for family that was in a wheelchair. And servers all had a smile. We were checked on several times and weren’t kept waiting for food or drinks. 100% recommend to others.”

“I used to live in Mason city and now live 2.5hours away, but every time I go to Mason city I have to go to taco tico. Great food, great service, always busy, and responsible prices. I have been to lots of restaurants in my life and alot of restaurants have messed up my order, I have been to taco tico in Mason city plenty of times and they have never messed up on my order.”

“I absolutely adore State Street Deli! My daughter and I often have meetings in the same building, and we always look forward to catching up over a meal at the Deli afterward. Whether it's for a bagel, a sandwich, or just a fountain drink, it's the perfect spot to relax and chat. The prices are fair, the food is delicious, and the staff is both helpful and welcoming. It's truly a fantastic place!”

“They kicked out our party of 8 because we pushed together tables near the billiards table. Very unprofessional, discourteous and downright rude. These distasteful actions were performed by the owner herself. We have been here numerous times before and love food. However we will not be returning.”

“We were driving through from Waterloo to Minneapolis, stopped in Mason City to visit family and looked at Google maps for restaurants. Happy Donkey came up. Only one other table with customers. We were skeptical. Service was friendly, establishment was clean, food was delicious (donkey enchilada was my choice and couldn't have been happier)!! Worth stopping!! 5/5!!!”

“We have been to the Clear Lake and Rockwell locations!!! We love the ice cream and the staff is great. Clear Lake's addition of the hot dogs is great too. We tried one with cream cheese and it was really good. Thanks for the great service and the variety of flavors.”

“We ordered a dozen cupcakes with only 24 hour notice. We were delayed leaving our home and on our way to pick them up, the bakery called with a reminder. They also wrapped our box in plastic to preserve the freshness for serving at a party the next day...and the German chocolate cupcakes were delicious. “Let’s do this by the numbers- 35- The number of years I’ve been working in restaurants. 20- The number of years my friend has been trying to get me to Mason City to try her favorite hometown restaurant. 4- The number of hours we drove, round trip to finally get me to The Northwestern. No other reason to come to Mason, just this restaurant. 1- The ranking of this filet versus any steak I’ve ever had in a restaurant in my life. Perfectly seasoned, melt in your mouth texture, and prompt, no nonsense service. For the sake of clarity and with no trace of hyperbole: this is the best steak I’ve ever had in a restaurant.”

“Pros- Well laid out and spacious seating area. Good selection of flavored and higher IBU beers. Staff is always friendly. Non-beer/non alcoholic options available. Free pretzels.

Cons- The staff and the entertainment must be deaf, even when seated toward the back the music is too loud to carry on a conversation with your table mates. I am not a fan of flavored or high IBU beers and the American Wheat is getting a little long in the tooth, maybe replace it with an American Style Lager?”

“Absolutely love this caribou I travel for work and I travel to mason which is far from my home I wait to get my coffee till I get to mason city’s caribou the workers are just fabulous AND KATHY is the freaking best. She makes my entire day she is so loving always has a smile on her face she is extremely helpful sweet she’s caring works hard as heck is all around just amazing. She sparks up a conversation with everybody mason city is so lucky to have her as a worker. Don’t get me wrong the other girls are great as well. Thank you all for all you do for all your hard work and your sweet kind words it truly makes a girls morning.”

“Love the Vulcan!! The dumplings are sooooo goood - the tempura shrimp is delicious. The coconut shrimp is one of my favorite meals. I haven’t had a bad thing to eat here and the sauces they make are delicious!”

“They know how to treat customers! We were there recently near closing time and were still eating well after closing. We never felt like we were being rushed to leave as you would in many places. Someone was sweeping up, but he made sure he wasn't near our table. A pet peeve of mine is staff sweeping next to our table while we are eating. Our server took very good care of us with a smile on his face. The food was very good and the portions were large.”

“We love Mexican so much that we’ve gotten really good at making it ourselves so I only review when great or terrible. Las Palmas was great! Food was so flavorful. I had the Enchiladas Rancheras and my sweetie had the Durango special. I’m picky about guacamole and theirs was creamy and delicious. To top it off, service was great and 2 entrees, a margarita and a beer came to less than $40! If we get back to Iowa, we’ll be back to Las Palmas.”

“First of all, Kay made me the best Old Fashioned I’ve ever had in 55 years. Wow! This woman deserves a medal for her hospitality and kindness.

We spent July 4th (our 19th anniversary) at The Draftsman. It’s in the basement of The Historic Park Inn. Not much in town was open on the holiday. So we hung out with Kay and played pool. We had beef tips and chicken satay. Certainly our least fancy anniversary dinner ever. But Kay made us feel like family and even bought us a round. What a sweetie!

“Great service and reasonably priced food and drinks. Full bar and wine available, food was served quickly as well, though it wasn’t busy when we were there.
We got the hand breaded cheese balls which were really good! I got a burger and my husband got chicken, both excellent! Atmosphere is your typical small town bar restaurant vibe. Service was wonderful.

“Cook's cafe is a great place to eat with cheap prices and good service. Sometimes it takes some time to get your food but is well worth it. Most of the waitress are up beat and very attentive. They will have you floating before you leave. Will go back again”

“We had a huge group after a basketball game & the staff was absolutely incredible! The young man that was at the counter was so professional and acted so kind to each child and adult. We got there 30 minutes before they closed the dining area. (No other fast food restaurant is open in our area at that time to accommodate such a large group) They didn’t make us feel like a burden. Very thankful!”

“I had the Chicken Lettuce Wrap and was very satisfied. The lettuce was fresh and crisp, and there was a lot of chicken.

The restaurant is very clean from the dining room to the back kitchen. The restroom felt like a sauna, and I like that very much.
It has wrap around parking lot, which includes two (2) disabled parking spots.

I love the decor, especially the "W" on the island table. There is a variety of seats from benches, islands, tables for 2 or 4 or more, round or square-shaped to a cozy soft chair beside a fireplace screen.

The staff is great - some being friendlier than the rest.
