Subject: Formal Complaint Regarding Unprofessional Conduct and Sanitation Concerns at Dairy Queen
I am writing to file a formal complaint about an experience I had at your Dairy Queen location.
Previously, I visited the restaurant and my order was messed up. At that time, I spoke with a manager who apologized for the inconvenience and told me that I could return and receive a full combo meal to make up for the issue.
When I returned to the store to redeem what I had been told, another manager on duty became argumentative and refused to honor what the previous manager had promised. Instead, I was told that the only thing I could receive was toast.
Because I did not want to continue arguing, I ended up paying for my food myself. Unfortunately, the interaction remained very unprofessional. When my food was handed to me, the manager rolled her eyes and did not say anything to me. There was no courtesy or basic customer service. Earlier, when I asked for the contact information for her supervisor or boss, I was also told that I could not have it.
While I was waiting for my food that I had paid for, I also observed a worker preparing a cake without wearing gloves, and the employee had her purse sitting right next to the food preparation area. This appeared very unsanitary and concerning.
Overall, this experience was extremely disappointing. I returned based on a promise made by a manager, and instead I experienced unprofessional behavior and observed sanitation practices that did not seem appropriate for a food service environment.
I would appreciate this situation being reviewed and addressed. Please contact me regarding how this issue will be resolved.

It took forever for 1 cup and it was super watery.

The service in the drive thru sucked. We went through to get a blizzard. The lady who was at the window, a short lady with kinda curly hair, stared my husband down with a big scowl on her face. She didn't serve our blizzard upside down like she was supposed to and someone made mine wrong. We thanked her and instead of smiling or exchanging pleasantries, she scowled at my husband and slammed the window in his face. We almost went in right then and there to report her but we were on our way somewhere, which is why we went to the drive thru in the first place. Horrible service and no quality control on food products.

I think this dairy Queen has been here since I was born, and like many in the area, it has a decent amount of nostalgic value from the days of cruising University and getting summer ice cream.

This dairy Queen is currently a very sad representation of those memories. It's dirty, completely understaffed, and the employees don't do much of the treat making anymore. The Dilly bars, buster bars, cakes, et al are pre-packaged and shipped from elsewhere, they taste terrible and aren't even the same size as they used to be. Why are they so expensive if they are making them cheaper?

Just skip this site, I don't want it to go away but it would need new management, a new way of operating. I will miss it.

And if you trust the food prepared here, you are an adventurous person.

This Diary Queen location does not acknowledge or accept Diary Queen Coupons. I would go to the Laporte Rd location in Waterloo. I had a better experience at the Laporte Rd location. Just a heads up if you have Diary Queen Coupons. It will save you time and gas.

Normally they are very friendly and the Sunday's are delicious. But tonight was terrible.

Understaffed, so it took a while to get through the drive thru. I ordered our blizzards with chocolate ice cream but they were made with vanilla.

$2.99 for a small vanilla ice cream cone REALLY was good but not that good!

Beware: I ordered the new orange cream shake and they put peanut butter in it and told me that’s just how it’s made. Good thing I don’t have a peanut allergy. It didn’t even taste good so I asked for them to remake it without peanut butter.

Kids wanted ice cream on a Sunday afternoon so we decided to get a treat. We should of went out of our way to the other DQ because of the stories and bad reviews I have heard about the one on university but we decided to just go. My son wanted a caramel Sunday with recces pieces and she said they can't do it because the candy is for the blizzards. I said you can't add it and charge me? Her reply. No. We got to window and was greeted by a very unfriendly person who opens the window and says "and we can't do candy because that's not Dairy queens way🤦‍♀️🤯 and if they don't do it at cooperate we're not allowed to. I am shook. I have never heard of anything so silly in all my life. My kids experienced this which isn't too cool but this is a representation of hurting people who are angry and bitter take their issues out on you. We won't be back. I don't even feel comfortable eating the blizzard because she prob spit in it. If I could give zero stars I would. Shame on you for being so rude in front of kids.

They were super nice when we told what cone was for.

Parking: They do have 2 spots for handicapped parking

Wasn’t able to do anything. Showed up at 8 PM when their website says close at 9 PM. Two high schoolers that were obviously the only ones working looked at me as I tried to open the door to get in and laughed. Never coming back. SHUT IT DOWN.
