I've been looking for a solid Chicago dog in Des Moines for eons and 85 Bar West didn't disappoint; as authentic and delicious as any I've had in the Windy City, and glad to have found a new favorite watering hole in Waukee. Pre-IMAX cocktails and excellent food here from now on!
We stopped here for lunch for a quick bite before going to the theater across the street. Food was amazing. Service was great and a decent beer selection. We particularly enjoyed the ripple fries with our sandwiches.
Chicago native, and had to visit the local Bears bar that also serves the Chicago style Italian beef. Let me preface this by saying that the Chicago Italian Beef is in my top 3 favorite foods. So the focus of my feedback will be on this sandwich, and may come off critical.
Much like the Philly cheesesteak, there are many different ways to order the Italian Beef. I love mine with hot giardiniera, mozzarella, and having it dipped. Now allow me to explain my disappointment:
