OPA! Italian & Greek offers a great variety of reasonably priced Greek and Italian dishes. The menu includes favorites like the thin onion rings and gyro with tender, well-seasoned lamb. Many dishes are well-prepared and unique to the metro Des Moines area. The ambiance is fairly quiet with nice decorations and lighting, making it a pleasant and intimate place for dining. The restaurant is a hidden gem with a great atmosphere, and parking is easy to find directly in front.
Guests find the menu decent and fabulous with a lot of gluten free options. The lasagna was well done, and the steaks were excellent. The best gnocchi was also highlighted. Unfortunately, the dolmathes were way too sour, and the spanakopita was greasy. While the service can sometimes be slow, other times it is great. Overall, OPA! is recommended for its good food and friendly atmosphere, with plans to revisit.
