“Would have loved to give a 5 start review but I can’t. First it’s a fantastic bar, super friendly staff, great atmosphere and has a patio. However the two things that I personally didn’t like was an automatic $1.50 charge to any tabs paying with a card. Last thing I didn’t like was when I walked inside it immediately smelled like vomit. The restaurant was super clean and didn’t give off a vibe that they don’t regularly clean. Maybe it was something in the carpet or perhaps another patron. I would visit again.“

“As far as atmosphere and the general layout of the place goes it's one of our favorites. The tables near each bay make it so you can have people who aren't golfing tag along and they'll still feel included in the group. One member of the management team is usually present and I feel that they make it easy to see that they care deeply about their business. Spending an afternoon golfing and drinking can be expensive but it's make a positive difference when you know you're supporting a genuinely good hearted business.“

It was pretty quiet for a Friday night (we also left before 9 pm), but we loved the intimate atmosphere and being able to interact with the band, who were very talented and friendly. Our bartender was warm and attentive and ensured we were taken care of. Their sangria mocktail was SUPER yummy and I was impressed at their mocktail selection. Excited to come back some time and try their food- the chicken strips look phenomenal!“

“Food was amazing, service was okay. We were there as a group of 4 for over two hours. Our waiter was very friendly, but barely came to our table. By the time he came to our table the first time, we were ready to order our food, but he essentially told us we needed to wait in between. We ordered drinks, 20 minutes later we were finally able to order an appetizer, and then it took another 30 minutes for him to finally take our food order. I was starving! Good thing the food was so good. They were a bit busy so I am sure that is part of the reason, I just wish we could have ordered all at once when we were ready.“

“The Park Avenue Pub has been around forever, well known on the Southside of Des Moines and largely remains unchanged. Still operating under normal pub hours and participating in local pool league tournaments. If you’re looking for fancy, this is not your place. If you’re looking for an old school simple watering hole and place to grab a bite, this is it. A small group of us still get together periodically on Saturdays for sausage sandwiches and a couples beers. Always a thumbs up on the sandwiches and they are reasonably priced. Also, plenty of parking in the back.“

“Dante is the best bartender and makes this spot off the charts!!! Definitely a great place and atmosphere to chill and have Guinness aka Irish chocolate milk! A gem of a place in the Iowa cornfields! Patio out back is peaceful and the vibes are really nice!“
