Big Mike is a true master of his craft, and a great guy to boot. Some of the best BBQ outside of Texas! All you other Idaho BBQ spots take note on how he cooks his brisket. BIG TEX approved!

First off I want to say that I am sure Big Mike could care less about my review. So it's not for his purposes it's for the general public. The sign on his roadside stand says he'll be open from Wednesday to Saturday. Every person I know raves about his barbecue. I packed up the family and I decided to head on over today. And wouldn't you know it, he has decided to arbitrarily just close up shop and do a catering gig, which I get but it creates a perception of inconsistency. So my first question is, why have a sign with your hours on it? Now, I can say that while I have had barbecue from just about all four corners of the United States and beyond I still want to try Big Mike's. I'm not likely to do that any longer because he is unreliable. Since he doesn't need our money, evidenced by the "sorry we're closed for a catering gig today, will return at some point, maybe" we might experience his cooking if we just happen to be driving by at one of the rare moments he decides to open his doors to the public on his roadside stand. Foodies beware, I have gone by many times now and he's never been open. I'm beginning to wonder if this is a hoax, or maybe we should treat his stand like Sasquatch. Or maybe he should change the name of it to Loch Ness barbecue. Just kidding. It's disappointing because I hear nearly everybody say how good his barbecue is so he obviously isn't hurting for my business. It just would be nice to be able to experience it firsthand so I could write on here how great it is.

Great food. Fall of the bone deliciousness. Quality food. The beans are amazing too! With all that quality, he could charge more, but he doesn't! The prices are very reasonable
Been driving past this place for awhile. They were open today (limited hours Wed-Sat) and I wasn't in a rush to get anywhere for once. So glad I finally stopped! Ordered the Mac Daddy. It's a layered sandwich with a bun, tri tip, Swiss cheese, sauce, another bun, brisket, Mac & cheese and topped with a bun. It's delicious and messy. I made a mistake and tried to cut it in half. I should have just committed and picked up the whole thing and gone in for the first bite. It came with a side so I had the coleslaw. Not your standard coleslaw. Looked like a broccoli slaw with carrot, purple cabbage, green apple and dried cranberry. My only complaint about the slaw is I felt like it was lacking dressing. That being said it really was good. I also grabbed their three meat sampler; pulled pork, tri tip and brisket. It came with one side which I chose a potato and macaroni salad. This was all gone by the time I got home from work. There were no complaints from my husband who ate it for lunch and dinner! I will be returning as everything was really good. You should try it!!

The food is amazingly flavorful: tender, perfectly smoked/sauced, and MEATY ribs; killer beans; and the portions are plentiful! What a find!!! Great job, Big Mike & staff!
