We bought St. Patrick’s day tickets for the bar block party downtown. Cactus was on the list. We stopped there first because we could get a free shot with a drink purchase. It was hardly busy and they didn’t serve us. We waited at the bar for 15 minutes & nobody even stopped to take our order. I’ve been there when it was far busier & had better service. We decided to just leave & come back after our bar crawl to get our free shot. When we came back, Matt refused to let me us in. He said I was too drunk. All I asked is if I had to show my ID because I had a wrist band. I had gone to other bars on our ticket list & they didn’t ID us to enter, so it wasn’t a stupid question. I wasn’t stumbling or overly drunk to the point where I’d hurt myself or anyone else. Even other people walking by us thought it was so bizarre! We decided to just go home at that point & waited for an Uber right outside the bar. We watched him let several women in without checking their ID’s. I used to really love cactus bar, but I would not recommend it after this experience. It made me so sad the way Matt treated me. He was condescending and was basically laughing at us while we waited for an Uber. We paid for these tickets and wanted to redeem them but the first time we came they didn’t serve us, & the second time they wouldn’t let us in ?

Rude bouncer (Matt). Rude bartenders. Stood there for 15-20 minutes and no one approached us to take our drink orders. It is St. Patty’s Day but it was NOT busy. Came back later to get our free shots we paid for and got turned away because my friend was ‘slurring her speech and stumbling’ after simply walking up and saying “Hi, do I need to show my ID?” Personnel are non-personable and overall rude.

So this is for sure a DIVE bar, legit dive bar. A little dirty, slightly skeezie, BUT freaking awesome. We stopped in for a quick drink and enjoyed chatting with the regulars. It's a hole in the wall but reminds me of a good old-fashioned dirty bar!

Great bar! Always try and stop by when I’m in Boise. Had a corn hole tournament going on while we were there which was a bonus. Good crowd of people every time I’ve been there, great place to meet people if you’re not from the area. Cash only too so you can keep slight better track of how much you’ve drunk, ha!
