Gare The Bear

The oldest brewery in Boise. Nice little place on Bogus Basin Road. Good ski and antique decor. Good beer selection, my brown ale was tasty.I ordered the 1/2 Reuben, which was a good choice for $9. Comes with a large portion of fries. The fries were okay, not a fan of the limpy style though. Salad or soup are also side choices. Plenty of meat and kraut on the sandwich.Liam took great care of us. Definitely worth a visit.

I need to be better about posting good reviews but sometimes a place isn't top of their game and tonight was one of them. Service was not good. Food was solid, considering 2 of the 3 meal choices we picked they were out of. No Messochops or Mac and Chees, and the Poutine ....Gravy, Fries and a couple pieces of cheese, had no Protien.Dude serving us offered waters and didn't ask us for anything else to drink. I was able to order a beer that took 10 mins. The food was good once we got it. The wings for appetizers we got had no side plates, which is fine but no napkins. I finally grabbed some from the drink station because the dude walked by our table and I could get his attention, which at that time I should have grabbed some silverware because I had to go back twice because my soup that the gal gave me said..."oh you need a spoon", never returned and we never were given silverware at all.Dude never checked on us once we got food to see how the meal was but only to return with bill saying thanks for coming in.I snagged the bill in frustration, as he level of service, food and customer service we received was piss poor.Thank you to the bartender for listening to this poor service we received. I LOVE THIS PLACE, I LOVE MESS O CHOPS. But dang for us to drive all the way across town again...I just don't know when I'll be back. ?

The Hollow is always consistent and great. The Fieg may be my favorite beer and should always be available. Food is always spot on.

A great place for lunch, beers after work or apres ski. House brewed beer is always consistent and good. Menu offers delicious pub fare. The Hollow is a great place to hang.

Great place that has been here forever! They have great food that is tough to beat when coming off the mountain. Pretty popular and can get a bit packed and loud.I had the Huckleberry burger and it was even better in person! I regretted sharing it with the hubs! ? I snuck a bite of my son's Philly which was also delicious. I blinked and the boys in our crew had wolfed their food down!

This place used to be good but the customer service has gone downhill the last two times I've been there. It's a nice looking place with a great theme especially when you're on your way back from skiing up at bogus... but the burgers were dry and lacking flavor, I never got my drink, no one else's drinks got re-filled. Everyone kept their ski gear and beanies on because it wasn't very warm inside. The large group next to us stayed bundled up too. The first two drinks I tried to order were sold out. It's a brewery so I asked for recommendation of a house beer that was like a Hefeweizen and the server offered me a pale ale and admitted he didn't know anything about the beers. The hummus plate was awesome but I was on a budget and the prices on the menu affected my choices but when I got rung up, the prices were higher than they were in the menu. I know it's a small thing but we all asked for fry sauce and we got three when there was five of us and ended up putting it on the burgers because they were dry and the ketchup bottle on the table was empty. Our server was super busy with other tables. It wasn't terrible but nothing to write home about and we'll go somewhere else next time.

Mmn spicy beef salad. Also live music and a rotating list of small batch brews. HH is a great place to take friends or family. The kind of place that makes Boise a chill place to live. Been coming here occasionally for years.

This place has my absolute favorite fries in Boise. The atmosphere is perfect for after a hike or snow adventure, warm and relaxed. There aren't many breweries around here that make an ESB and their Thunder Money is an excellent example of one. They have gluten free and vegan options. Love the spicy beef salad, been having it for years. The clam chowder is delicious on Fridays and like all their soups, freshly made. If you are feeling, it their tuna melt is a surprise hit as well.Dietary restrictions: They have gluten free options.

We love Nanette and the Hollow! Had such a fun night with High Step Society with great food, drinks and dancing. The best time I have had there to date... So much that we came early and stayed late. Thank you Nanette for always providing top-notch service and booking such wonderful music!

It's not world class dining, but it doesn't pretend to be. It's just a good local place with a good burger & brew. You'll always run into someone you know. t's the food equivalent of a comfy pair of jeans. It's the same every time you go. It's usually always busy at peak times, but that's just part of it!

I had not been here in a while. The service was amazing, the fries are delicious and the atmosphere is always fun. Always cool to bring out of towners here for something very local.

Such a unique place, with a wonderful atmosphere. It's a little old school but everything is delicious and their beer is home brewed, plus it's the oldest micro brewery in Boise!
