I had the worst experience ever at Richards in Boise Idaho. I hosted an event and my server was horribly rude to me and my guests. She was very unorganized and had an attitude with my guests. I will never host an event here again and I highly recommend you hire a new event server. If you are going to get overwhelmed over a large event with a set menu do not be an event server. She was upset that I said the alcohol bills were all seperate and continued to give my guests the wrong drinks then told my doctor he could not eat before presenting for our event. I had several complaints from my guests on my server and I genuinely do not think she deserved the $400 gratuity that she got on our bill that evening. My steak was over cooked and horrible along with other guests complaining about their food not being correctly cooked. I will never come back to this restaurant again. I would never recommend this restaurant for an event to anyone unless they want to lose all of their clients.

My family and I had a wonderful experience at Richard's for dinner last night. I have severe food allergies and our waitress, Kimber, and the kitchen staff were extremely accommodating in preparing me something safe to eat. I can honestly say this is one of the only restaurants that I feel really listened to me and did not act like my food restrictions were an added burden to them. They told me all the ingredients of the safe dishes and our waitress checked back with me several times to make sure certain ingredients were safe. I felt well taken care of and assured that I could enjoy a meal that would not make me sick. I will definitely be returning!
Dietary restrictions: Very accommodating, take food allergies seriously, wait and kitchen staff very knowledgeable, safe place to eat.

Overall I really enjoyed myself. The waitress was wonderful. The highlights were the scallop appetizer, the beet salad, and the prosciutto chicken. The only reason it didn't get 5 stars was the short rib raviolo (very large ravioli) the meat inside was so fatty and undesirable. There was even a big chunk of fat which just grossed me out. The dish was a big let down. Otherwise everything else was fantastic. I really love their bread and olive oil too which is complimentary!

During my stay at Inn 500, I was able to dine twice at Richard's. Dinner was incredible. Our server, Geovanny, was so helpful and was on top of things for our table (6 guests). His knowledge of the menu was so helpful so that we could make our dinner choice. My other dining experience was for breakfast. Again, the food was so delicious. One of the best omelets I've had in a long time. Spencer, my server, was so kind; his demeanor, in the early morning, was so appreciative. When I'm back in Boise I will definitely stay at the Inn 500 and dine at Richard's. What a top notch hotel and restaurant. Well done!
My husband and I went for drinks and an appetizer. We were judged the second we got through the door, and being blatantly gossiped about by the bartender and waiter. We left after one drink. Terrible service, crappy attitudes. I haven' felt so uncomfortable as a paying customer. Do not give this place business!!!!
We came to celebrate a birthday and Richard's exceeded our expectations. Our food was delicious and they offered a wide variety of gluten free options (Celiac, so gf is critical). Service was stellar, too. Solid wine program and tasty, inventive mocktails and cocktails. We hope to return on our next trip to Boise.
Our favorite dish was the salad...which says it all. The quail was smothered in sauce that was rather bland. The skewered lamb chops were not medium rare as described- it was medium well. It would be very difficult to cook the very thin chops medium rare. The blackberry sauce was also bland and heavy handed. The orzo with the lamb was bland. The arancini appetizer was good, but bland. Loved the huckleberry ice cream. Biscotti needs work. Disappointed in the meal. We won't be back for dinner. It was our anniversary and wjat was memorable was the good service and delicious wine.
Our server did a nice job; very knowledgeable, friendly and courteous. Two nitpicks: 1) we had to tell other servers/busboys (?) not to clear our dishes until all had finished THREE times! (A Training Issue). Second, please don't interrupt to ask if I want more water; just pour it and if I don't want it I'll say something.
Richard's is simply fabulous! The interior is beautifully designed with interesting use of pattern. It is fairly quiet so conversation is lovely. The service is both friendly and very polite. And, the food is delicious! Don't be fooled by unusual gelato combinations, it is always wonderful!

Richard's is one of the few remaining genteel restaurants in Boise. We are overrun with loud, cookie cutter eateries. Our dinner was delicious, the server was superb, and we enjoyed a relaxing 3-hour meal with friends.
We were celebrating a birthday there and they had a nice Happy Birthday welcoming card at the table before we even sat down. Amazing gelato and a candle to top off the evening. Perfect experience!!
Have been going to Richard's for many years. Tonight may be my last meal there. Ordered a Johnny Walker Black on the rocks. Got the bill and I was charge $2.50 for ice in an $18 drink. Sorry guys that is absurd. In addition I had the prosciutto wrapped chicken as I have had many times there. This time the prosciutto was overcooked and almost impossible to chew. Total bill was approaching $200. Sorry to see you go.
The roasted chicken wrapped in prosciutto was impeccable. It took quite a while for the entree to arrive, yet it was worth the wait.

We ordered room service after a long day of driving in the car. The food arrived quickly, which was great. But that's about all that was great.
The Alaskan halibut was very lemon forward but overcooked. The resulting fish was hard in a way halibut never should be. Then there were the "seasonal vegetables." Three cherry tomatoes and three pitiful carrot halves. Then, strangest of all, a giant pile of shredded cheese to make the plate look less barren. For $40, this dish was a joke.
And then there was the mushroom linguine. I can say that the portion size on that one was better. But it was the blandest thing I've eaten in recent memory. If I closed my eyes and ate a mushroom, I would never have guessed what it was. They were watery... just. So watery. And the sauce tasted like someone had whispered the word "pistachio" next to it for seasoning. Even after several passes of the salt and pepper shakers, I couldn't eat more than half of this. It was a waste of $23.
Normally I'm pretty easy to please, but when you ask those kinds of prices you better back it up with food that feels worth it.
