The hibachi and service were excellent. Food was fresh, cooked perfectly and tasted wonderful. Portions were average and the ginger sauce was good. We were surprised that there was no YumYum sauce offered, but it was fine. The building is old, furnishings and carpet very tired. The place needs new carpet and tables. I was concerned that if the dining space looked like this, that the food prep probably did too. The price was good for the food.
You could probably say that Tepanyaki is a historical site for Boise. They have been around forever. After serving in a restaurant like this for almost 20 years, I'll try not to be harsh. Overall, the food was ok. The rice was left in the grill too long and was overcooked. I didn't enjoy the crispy pieces of the over cooked rice. We love chef Binh. He is always really great with kids and babies. Puts on a great show with delicious food.
