What's not to love? A wife and husband owned winery + ballet studio. The Albariño is lovely. The merlot had a ton of character and completely drinkable. The Cabernet Sauvignon is delightful. The finish? Almost disappears then reappears as floral.

My goodness I am late to this wine party! We discovered Par Terre winery about a month ago and immediately fell in love with their wines. My husband and I are strict red wine drinkers but immediately fell in love with their sparking rose and all of their white wines. They made us believers! They have an impressive line up of reds to savor as well, all created with an artful touch of grace. Don't miss out on this boutique winery, it is starting to become a regular in our urban winery lineups!

Friendly small local winery

Par Terre is a true success story. Two local professional ballet dancers who turned their creative practice into a new creative offering - a winery. High quality Idaho wines in a space they designed and built themselves. Travis and Mallory are a local inspiration and their winery is on the rise as one of the finest in Idaho.

Shh...listen closely. Hear that? It is the sound of the fine bubbles in Par Terre's just released sparkling Skin Contact Arneis whispering, "Drink me! Drink me!" And you are going to be ho-ho-happy with the holidays coming up to discover this delightful to drink and unusual to find Arneis to enjoy yourself and gift to others. If you have wine drinkers on your "they've been nice" holiday list, this is a great discovery. They only made 57 cases. We bought enough bottles to total one and a friend who we told about it early bought enough to count as another. Act fast while there is still some available! (And yes, yes I did make sure my friend and I both made our purchases first. I am not as nice a Yelp-Elf as you think.) ARNEIS IS HARD TO FIND: Travis (winemaker owner - husband) and Mallory (business manage owner - wife) announced this Arneis on Facebook a couple of weeks ago and my husband and I made a 'pas de deux' to the tasting room (yes, it is a bad pun connection to Par Terre being a ballet term and that the talented young couple who own and named the winery are themselves for dancers with SF ballet company) to pick up a couple of bottles to try. And the very next day we were back to pick up multiples more for both ourselves and as gifts. This wine is among our most fun vino discoveries of 2020 and we want to share the fun with others.Arneis is a fav varietal of ours, old winos...umm...well aged wineaux that we are. A northwest region Italian varietal, the name translates either "little rascal" or "demanding one", depending on to whom you speak, given the grape is difficult to grow and to make into wine. For that reason there is little of it produced in the US and most of what we have enjoyed over our (many, many) years of wine drinking, most of it as still wine but a few bottles as sparklers, has been imported from Italy. So imagine our surprise to learn from Travis that there is one grower of Arneis in all of Idaho (Arena vineyard, I think) and that Par Terre is one of only two wineries that had access to the grapes this year and for the next harvest season too. THIS YEAR'S PAR TERRE ARNEIS: Travis did the unusual thing of fermenting the Arneis with skin contact to result in both lovely color and a delightful bit of viscosity in the mouthfeel of the wine to add to the great taste. We got Asian pear and apple peel and maybe just a hint of toasty almond to drink it. It is tank fermented and the bubbles in the bottle (crown capped not corked) when poured into glass are fine and persistent making this this lovely to drink by itself and a nice partner with eats of all kinds from expected to un...as in we tried it with Certified Kitchen & Bakery's cornbread that included whole corn kernels and with pasta carbonara that included local eggs and local producer guanciale (which was our Thanksgiving meal...no kidding...in this unusual year) and fresh herb roasted local range chicken and honey chevre pumpkin cheesecake with pepita brittle as made by a talented local chef not to mention one of the best pairings for sparkling wines of all kinds, great quality lightly salted potato chips.LOOKING FORWARD: Travis says he plans to use next year's Arneis grapes to make a classic style still Arneis wine. My hubby and I will have visions of those bottles dance in our heads as we sip the glasses of fine bubbles in the sparkling Skin Contact Arneis in this year's release. TASTING ROOM HOURS PS: On about December 1, 2020 Mallory and Travis announced they are closing the tasting room for in person hours given it is a small space and covid19 rates are climbing in the local area so they felt it the right thing to do. But you can still order wine to pick up at the tasting room and they'll meet you there to deliver it curbside to your car. (In fact, I am making another pick up that way today.) They also have free delivery if you live within 8 miles of the tasting room and are buying 3 bottles or more (I do and I am but they are busy running a winery business

With shelter in place we finally had the time to really sample Par Terre Winery. Love the 2017 Red Wine Washington en l'air. Wonderful! Absolutely recommend the curb side pick up. Support our local businesses!
