“The Local ⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Local in Boise is “a neighborhood Eatery and Wine Pub, offering live music and rotating artists.” They also have a dog, friendly patio and a Dog menu. MW and I visited during Happy Hour, which is Monday through Friday from 3 PM to 5 PM. We ordered a mix of items off of the happy hour menu and the regular menu. We started with Hurricane Popcorn - A Hawaiian favorite - with Nori Furikaki and Japanese rice crackers. It was very flavorful and unlike any popcorn I’ve ever had before. This is a unique menu items The Local is known for. We ordered two side Caesar salads. I like that it had homemade croutons, but it needed a little more more dressing. We shared an order of Carnitas Street Tacos, to which we added 1 extra taco. The pork was tender, but the tacos were pretty bland. We shared an order of Smash Sliders - 3 smash burgers using our own custom burger blend from Porterhouse in Eagle, with classic American cheese. They were tasty. Unfortunately, I forgot to get a photo! We shared two desserts: Berry Crisp - Blackberry cobbler topped with vanilla ice cream. The berry crisp was excellent! Crème Brûlée - Simple and delicious vanilla crème brulee. The crème brûlée was good, but not great. The texture wasn’t as creamy as it should’ve been. We visited early on a weekday, so we didn’t get to hear any live music, but we pretty much had the place to ourselves until towards the end of our visit. Overall, the food was good, but not great. However, they do have a bigger menu than most wine bars and they allow dogs on the patio. The Dog Menu looks excellent! The Local has a nice Wine Menu, as well as several local beers on tap. If you’re looking for a nice wine bar with a neighborhood pub vibe, The Local is worth considering. I would like to return and try their Pepe’s Famous Fish Tacos. The pictures of their flatbread look excellent too. * The Local is wheelchair accessible. Recommended!“

“My wife and I are retired. Today, Tuesday, we took a field trip from our home in Star to Camel's Back Park, where we hiked up to the top and enjoyed the view. We thought it would be nice to have lunch in Hyde Park, an area we enjoy, and so we tried Hyde Park Pub and Grill for the first time. The interior is full of dark wood, some TV screens for sports, and a bar area. To me, hints of an Old English Pub, which I'm sure is the ambience they're going for. Warm and comfy. The restaurant was not crowded, and we took a booth facing 13th St. Our server, a young woman with shorter hair and some facial jewelry, who was knitting a sweater (how cool!) when she was not tending customers, was our server and took great care of us. My wife had the burger and fries and I had the Fiesta Chicken Salad. My wife enjoyed her burger. My salad was tasty, though the chicken was a little dry. We will be back!“

“This place is AMAZE-BALLS. I had the Brstwurst Sandwich and added German potato salad...and the German potato salad was better than my mom's. Both my wife and I were floored by how good the food was. I grew up in the restaurant industry, with my German Uncle being an executive Chef for the Ahwahnee Hotel in Yosemite National Park, and I wish Uncle Bertram was still alive today to check this place out. Can't recommend it enough, you NEED to try Prost.“

“One of the best food experiences I have had in a while. A traditional British pub environment. You did not even feel like you are in downtown Boise. The Warm Brussels Caesar is literally the most amazing salad I have ever tried. So delicious and creamy. I had the Bangers and Mash. The mustard sauce with it was to die for. When you don’t drink, sometimes the mocktail options are just okay. Not here. I had a grapefruit julep. Wow! So good. Desserts also did not disappoint. I could not have enjoyed a meal more.“

McCleary's Pub State Bar • $
9155 W State St, Eagle - 4.84 miles

“McCleary’s is hands-down my favorite dive bar in Boise. The vibe is immaculate, and the bartenders do a great job making sure everyone’s taken care of. There’s both an indoor bar and an outdoor bar. The crowd here is surprisingly young, and the backyard has tons of games. Giant beer pong, table tennis, Jenga, and more.

On Saturdays, they bring in live music, which is honestly the only day I avoid. It gets so loud you can’t really have a conversation, and it just isn’t enjoyable for me. Every other night, though, I love it, especially Fridays! I always end up meeting fun people, and the drinks are inexpensive.

If you’re looking for a spot to hang out with friends or meet a younger crowd, this is the place. If you’re into loud music and don’t care about talking, then Saturday nights are your jam.

This bar shines in the spring, summer, and fall. I skip it in the winter because the backyard doesn’t stay warm. They only have a couple of fire pits, and while they work, they’re not enough to make it cozy, you will still feel frigid. The indoor area is smaller than your typical dive bar: small, cramped, and it fills up fast when it’s cold out. But when the weather’s nice, this is the best dive bar in the valley.

Oh, and I don’t think they actually sell food, but every now and then there’s a food truck parked outside, which is a nice bonus.“

“This please is dark an and quiet. Has pull tab's and slots. Drinks didn't get strong until the 3 drink. The price is worth it and I love to be hidden. This is my new bar. Would love to see a man server, might have stayed longer and bought more drinks. But this was a nice spot to stop and have my 20th anniversary. Did only serve food at certain times so I had to go somewhere else for food. But other than that I'll go back just for drinks and too be hidden. Thank you.“
