Beautiful ambience and even more impressive food. The black bean dip was tasty. I would recommend anything with the carne asada (the best I've had since mexico) or those delicious button mushrooms (chewy and sweet/earthy in the best way). The tortillas aren't bad but they weren't anything special either in my opinion. The chips and salsa however were great. Thin and crispy but hold up well and well salted, spicy salsa but still mild and flavorful enough to enjoy...
I went to U of I what feels like forever ago and La Casa Lopez was a favorite treat on my college kid budget then and is a favorite now whenever I happen to be in the area, it never disappoints.
We have never, ever been disappointed with La Casa Lopez. Fresh, authentic, delicioso! The carne asada is my personal go to fave -- unrivaled for flavor and juiciness. The black bean dip is superb.
