Amazing authentic ramen. Nothing else left to be said. Trust the locals here that keep coming back with really long wait lines, but it's worth it. Credit/debit card only

Possibly the best ramen in the area.

I wasn't impressed with the ramen here at all. I believe I ordered the shio ramen (mild salt flavor), which was recommended by the staff, but it seriously lacked flavor. The ramen here was on some lists for best ramen in Chicago, but it is at the bottom of the ramen I've had so far in the city, and I've had quite a few at this point. There are plenty of other tasty items in this food court I would recommend instead and if you're looking for ramen this might not satisfy you.

Sorry, this ramen was so bland, I had the salt ramen, and the texture was great, the mouth feel was exactly what long simmering ramen should be.But the flavor, it was like eating nothing, there wasn't any, even the noodles didn't taste like anything, it didn't taste fresh either.Idk if my ramen radar is broken, but this is among my least favorite ramen experiences I've had.

Inside of Mitsuwa Marketplace. Excellent ramen, and the place that has since started my ramen obsession.

I ordered the miso ramen with rice, salmon, and fish egg combo. When I got my order, the smell of the noodles put me off like oily greasy smell. The salmon bowl tasted fishy. Fresh fish isn't supposed to be smelly. When I complained both the cashiers laughed in my face saying I don't understand its fresh its fish supposed to be fishy. The lady brushed me off saying we have customers.

Shortly after arriving in Chicago from Houston, I decided to go to mitsuwa. I hadn't eaten anything for lunch, so I ordered Santouka. Of course there are no formations from 3pm.I remember going to Santouka about a year ago, but I don't remember much about the taste. I feel like this soup is a little thin. Furthermore, I think the seasoning of the menma was too light and the chashu pork was not cooked at all. The chashu rice bowl is fine, but the fat is too thick and the green onions are too spicy, so I can't say it's easy to eat...Well, when you compare the taste of Chicago ramen with Japanese restaurants, you can't help but find a lot of flaws. Also, the $20 ramen set meal is pretty painful. However, it's still one of the famous ramen shops in Chicago, and if your ramen spirit is kindled someday, Santouka might be a better option than spending even more money on ramen that doesn't taste good.

Line is always long, especially during lunchtime, 11 am - 1 pm, even worse during the weekend, normally around 30- 40 mins wait or depending on how many people ahead of you. But is it worth the wait? Yes! Definitely. I always enjoy the ramen and other side dishes they offer. Prices are a bit expensive, around $15, but it's very filling and say worth it. The only downside of this place is that it is hard to find an empty table to sit at during lunch rush hours as this restaurant is located inside Mitsuwa market food court. So, I recommend that if you are going to this place with a friend, 1 person should start looking for a table while the other one is waiting in line or if you're by yourself and very hungry avoid going here during lunch hours.
