San Jose Mexican Restaurant is a decent average Mexican restaurant, equivalent to other local taco stands. The atmosphere is nice and clean, with seating that can feel tight when full. The customer service is often amazing, with servers described as very kind, attentive, and polite, though the staff can sometimes seem overwhelmed during rushes. The drive-thru is a noted plus.
The food is really good, delicious, and priced extremely reasonably, with good portion sizes. The menu has a decent selection. Specific items like the **steak tacos**, **carnitas tacos**, **steak burrito**, and **supreme burrito** are good, loaded, and plentiful, though sometimes just okay in taste. The **horchata** is really good and the **pico salsa** is amazing. However, some items are inconsistent: **chicken tacos** can have tough, unseasoned chicken; a **birria flauta** was small and over-fried; and a **tamale** was mostly dough with little seasoned chicken and no sauce. The rice is considered average, needing more flavor. A suggestion is to add **huevos con chorizo** as a taco dinner option. While the overall experience is good and brings customers back, there is a recurring issue with missing items on delivery orders.
