Sal's has great food and great service. The whole wheat bread and naan were incredible!! Homemade and so fresh! The meets tasted like an authentic Italian deli. They didn't taste like the dry sodium filled meats from subway or other sub places. The place was clean and the lady working there was so sweet and helpful. The salad we ordered was huge! All that being said we spent less than we would've at Panera!

Sal's Bistro is located right on "the strip" in Carbondale, near Southern Illinois University. While out and about running errands today, we decided to stop in and try it out after hearing good things and reading a couple of good reviews online. There is plenty of seating in the dining area. Walk up and order at the counter. Everything was fresh and delicious. Made to order and you can modify any menu item to your liking. We ordered the combo so we could try a small sandwich and a small salad. The only issue is, there is nothing small about them! Both were delicious, but a meal within itself. I couldn't finish mine and ended up bringing half of each home! We tried the Triple Berry Salad, Greek salad, and the Chicken Bacon Ranch on ciabatta bread sandwiches. If you like fresh ingredients and healthier options, this is the place for you! We will definitely be back...

An actual healthy place in a college town! I tried finding healthy in Carbondale and couldn't really find any. Then Sal's came up. I was more than impressed. First of all they were working on an 8 degree day and still happy to be there. That should tell you something about the place. The salads are huge. They offer small which is more than plenty and regular which is huge. Pricing is great and they offer tons of add-ons. I had the strawberry poppyseed which was packed with flavor. I also had the cheesesteak with provolone. It was also fantastic (I know I said healthy but that's what the salad was for) and very filling for 8". I was thrilled with the service, price, and the quality. My girl had the power salad and was very happy with it as well. We will be back.

It was just pretty... basic. I got the BLT and it was just greasy. The whole thing tasted like grease. And the bacon wasn't high quality. The place also looked like it was a little dirty.
