A short walk to the northeast from the National Museum of Mexican Art, we had excellent service as well as food. It was a hot, humid day, but apparently it was warmer inside than on their sidewalk seating, so we dined outside.
My wife ordered the Vegetarian Torta ($13.75) and I chose the Shrimp Torta ($14.50). They were each quite large and filling. My shrimp torta was good, but a little one note. The vegetarian torta was an awesome combination of flavors and I would order it again in a heartbeat.
Only real negatives were that they did not offer any draft beer options and the Chips y Salsa ($3.75) had a meager quantity of chips to eat their tasty and generous tomatillo and 3-chile salsa options. Would actually go 4.5 stars based on those 2 factors, but gave the benefit of the extra half star due to how good our service was and the excellent flavor of the veggie sandwich.

12 out of 10!
I got the tacos diner platter and chose the pibil, barbacoa and goat adobo. The goat wasn’t gamey (which tbh I would have been fine with, but more people don’t like, so you should know it’s quite mildly goat-y. Would be a v good introduction to goat for first timers) the pibil was the perfect amount of fat to meat IMO (not fatty, just enough fat to give flavor) and the barbacoa ranks in my top 3 ever. Kind of competes with my family’s barbacoa, I was very happy with it.
Cafe de olla was perfectly sweetened and seasoned as well.
I will note that my friend got the torta ahogada and it was served a little differently than expected… not quite drowning in sauce nor how it would be traditionally served (it had beans) but the flavor she was happy with (note: she asked for spiciest level and didn’t feel it was very spicy in the end— but the table salsa was PERFECT and spicy enough to compliment the sauce that the torta came on).
Overall my favorite meal I ate on a 5 day trip to Chicago. Really glad I got to visit.

This place is a Pilsen tourist trap. Been here 4 or 5 times, all of them to give them the benefit of the doubt because of the good reviews. But the food here is pretty much the same you get at any other Mexican restaurant in Pilsen. The prices are high, but worst of all is the service, the male waiters are impolite, the remove dishes when you aren't finished... fast, so no time to react. I felt rushed every time we went for dinnertime. Our waiter hovered over my fiend when she was paying he huffed and rolled his eyes when she added 18% tip..I wont be going back there I'll rather give my business to another restaurant.

I’ve never had a negative experience with a Chicago restaurant. Completely unprofessional and it’s inexcusable. After ordering a small order of quesadillas, I waited over 20minutes & called the host to just cancel the order—she stated they’re almost done. Instead of taking them off my order she argued that because they’re finished it can’t be taken off my check. They packed them in foil even after I asked them to cancel the order. Practically forcing me to take them. I spoke with 3 separate people including the manager after I asking about their policy. Which at that point I felt harassed, embarrassed and discriminated against from the server. The interaction and the blatant refusal to dismiss the order that I didn’t touch, is unacceptable and unbelievable! Hyde Park Location.

Wildly overpriced tacos. Any self respecting hole in the wall has better for half the price. Que no mamen

Small, authentic Mexican Restaurant. The food was incredible, especially the fried plantains. I had a chicken dish with grilled chicken in savory sauce with grill vegetables. It was so good. Fried plantains were incredible (also with two sauces, a sticky sweet sauce and a creamy cheese sauce). My dining partner had a sandwich in broth and loved it, he ate the entire thing.
The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful with not only the menu and typical restaurant service but also helping with directions for two tourists and suggestions for other things to do.
Five Stars plus!

Diana was our server. Great customer service and recommendations for our choices. Spicy pineapple margaritas to die for. LOTS of vegetarian options. Will definitely come back!

Food was pretty solid, although some of it was literally dripping in oil. It might be overpriced by a bit, but I don't think it's crazy overpriced like some of the reviews say. The chips and ceviche we ordered was pretty average, although visually it looked great. That actually kind of sums up the food.
My biggest issue was how awful the service was. Our waitress took our drink orders and then didn't show up/check in for literally 40 minutes, despite the place not being crazy busy... at minute 20 of no one checking in we flagged down what I think was the manager to take our order. After that it was random people delivering the food. One of the lady's who brought out food was nice and asked us how are meals were, the other younger one felt like she was giving me the stink eye. Between getting mean mugged and having our waitress disappear, we probably wouldn't return. We also saw another couple just straight up walk out because no one served them for at least 15 minutes after they were seated.
Really bad service but food was pretty solid.
