We had a fun omakase night with pretty good sushi. The tasting menu was $165 for 15 courses. There is a marquee board that changes with each course and describes each piece. There was no printed menu listing each course because they change their menu frequently. The food was good but you can see from my photos that it is a lot of similiar, simple niguri. The squid and shrimp were very chewy and not my favorites but I did enjoy the subtle ingredients (like sea salt, lime, honey) on the sea bass, salmon, blue fin that really complimented each piece. I would consider this experience very tasty but I'm not sure I would go back for the $165 price point.

My friend was visiting from out of town and we decided to try AJI for omakase. The co owner introduced each dish and the atmosphere was relaxed. Even though omakase can feel intimidating or uptight, it felt comfortable.
Most of the dishes had a hint of lemon which I’m not a fan of, but I understand it helps balance the fishiness for others. When there were a few pieces without lemon, just the fish itself, I was blown away. The fatty tuna with caviar and uni tasted like a million bucks.
The dessert was also incredible sooo rich and full of flavor. Overall, I highly recommend AJI and would definitely come back again.

The best omakase we have ever had. Christian explained every bite in detail and made the evening perfect. It was by far the best quality fish. Each bite was intricately crafted and the entire experience was beyond our expectations. If I could give it 10 stars I would ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Kristian and his team were phenomenal

My partner and I celebrated our anniversary here this past weekend, and Aji did not disappoint! Kristian, Nick, and Jarot were fabulous hosts and it was obvious they cared about their work and the guest experience. I use my left hand to eat chopsticks and all the Chefs seemingly noticed and made sure they placed the sushi in the direction that made it easy for me to pick it up. This small gesture just goes to show their impeccable attention to detail.
The drinks and food were equally fantastic. The lychee martini is the best martini I’ve had in Chicago and the sushi was fresh, light, and flavorful. My partner and I also enjoyed a nice bottle of sake that paired well with the meal. I definitely plan to go back!

The chef is very friendly and the service is good. I don't really like how much wasabi they put into sushi, it's more like American style omakase. Yuzu drink is very good though
Wonderful omakase experience, interesting combinations that take you on a tasty journey, enjoyed every piece! Intimate ambiance, friendly staff and cool fellow customers (Christian was the man!). Just do it, TREAT YOSELF make that reservation and your mouth won't be disappointed.

It was more than the eating food it was an experience. From the time you sat down, the time between dishes, to leaving the restaurant--the customer service was expectational. There was even a 1 year anniversary and they made the couple feel special. Intimacy is definitely a defining quality outside of the food. Each dish felt unique and tasted different from one another really highlighting the creativity of the team.

AJI Omakase was the perfect date night spot. The atmosphere felt intimate and special. Every piece was unforgettable and beautifully presented and full of flavor. The chefs made the experience feel personal and the pacing was just right to really enjoy each moment together. It’s the kind of dinner that makes you fall a little more in love with the food and the person across from you.

Wonderful experience, very cozy space, lovely and intimate inside. Staff was superb - friendly and accommodating. Food was delicious!
I would’ve really liked to visit here, I had planned it 6 weeks in advance, but the day of our reservation someone called and said that they had mixed up our reservation and overbooked our 8pm seating and we’d have to reschedule. Unfortunately with the commute and our work schedules we couldn’t work around a last minute change and had to find somewhere else for dinner. Really disappointing experience even if it was just a mistake.
first time guests at Aji, thank you to Chef Nick and team for making our first experience one to remember!
