The chef is very friendly and the service is good. I don't really like how much wasabi they put into sushi, it's more like American style omakase. Yuzu drink is very good though

This was the most underwhelming omakase experience I've had. The price did not match the quality or overall experience. The table is shaped like an “L,” which means if you're seated on the horizontal end, you can't see any of the preparation or interaction with the chef — only the seats directly in front of the chef are worthwhile. As a sushi lover, I found each piece to be mediocre at best. I could only pick two that stood out, while the rest lacked excitement or memorable flavor. I'm genuinely surprised this place is so highly rated. Overall, I wouldn't recommend it, especially given the price point.

I've tried various omakase places in Chicago at different price points. I took my significant other to Aji for his b-day as he has never tried omakase in general. I was warned by my friend that rice isn't all that great or seasoned well. Ambiance of the place is great, but right from the beginning, the other guests and I were all a bit taken aback by the strong wasabi taste in the first few pieces. It was so strong to the point that when I looked around the table, every person had tears in their eyes. Thankfully, one of the guests notified one chef if he could put less wasabi. I was surprised that the chefs used a blow torch for practically every single piece that they served. Also, the rice was under seasoned as my friend warned me previously. It didn't have that nice blend of vinegar, sugar or salt flavor and was dry. For the medium price point, I was disappointed in Aji. I appreciated the bday celebration they did for my partner, but we won't be going back to Aji. There are plenty of great omakase places that serve better fish/seafood pieces with seasoned rice at a much lower price point.

Aji Omakase is absolutely spectacular! The sushi was incredibly fresh, beautifully presented, and full of amazing flavors. Each piece felt like a work of art, and you can truly taste the chef’s passion and attention to detail. The service was warm and attentive, making the entire experience unforgettable. Hands down one of the best sushi experiences I’ve ever had—highly recommend!
