The lounge is big plenty of room, they offer self service for drinks and snacks. There’s a place to put your luggage while you hang out or talk a walk outside of Union Station
This is a beautiful and comfortable Amtrak lounge for first class passengers. Clean and modern. It has plenty of seating on two floors. Less snack choices and more on munchy type snacks compared to Penn station but okay. It does have an adult beverage bar with attendant which does require drink payment. Coffee and tea no charge. Really enjoyed the Metropolitan lounge in Chicago Union Station on our layover there. Easy to find and check in was easy. Snacks, fruit and beverages were supplied and there was lots of comfortable seating available. You can also rent lockers, buy an adult beverage from the bar and even take a shower to refresh yourself if needed.

Amtrak Metropolitan Lounge offers a more relaxing and comfortable experience than the main train hall. Accessible with a pass from a sleeping car ticket or day pass purchase, the lounge provides self-serve beverages and snacks, including a Coca Cola freestyle machine. The lounge is very large, featuring many comfy chairs, tables, and plenty of outlets and charging ports to work or relax. It has a quiet, spacious upstairs area, along with TVs and a clean, well-stocked environment managed by helpful staff. Snacks and hot and cold drinks (except milk) are complimentary, and bathrooms are clean and available for those who need to freshen up. The lounge is a great place to wait for a train, especially for long layovers or after a long trip. The staff is courteous and attentive, contributing to an overall excellent experience. However, it is noted that this is a train lounge and does not compare to an airline lounge, and while there are plenty of snacks and drinks, there are no meals served in the lounge.
