The food was tasty. A little more on the pricey side $$$ for me; but I would recommend this restaurant to family and friends.

Our happy place
They crammed all the guests together at one long communal table. The seats were so close together there was barely any room to put anything down. We were seated in the middle, and after squeezing in, we got multiple dirty looks from the guests next to us and had to deal with their completely uncalled-for complaints. We had made a reservation two weeks in advance, and this is what we got. On top of that, the seats were so close together there was zero privacy — the people next to you could see your phone and hear every word of your conversation. Never coming back. An absolutely terrible experience.

Food was good, however, the host sat us by the counter when we had a reservation and multiple tables were available. Service and atmosphere were disappointing.

We had a group of seven, aged 11 to 50 ish, and everyone had a fantastic time. Debates this morning about what the best dish was — but more importantly, the staff and crew made for a wonderful night. They were always friendly and gave great recommendations while keeping the food and drink flowing throughout the entire night.
Trendy, interesting restaurant. You can sit at the bar or communal table. We sat at the bar and had excellent service. Tim was professional and made sure we had everything we wanted. Mediterranean style food freshly prepared. Hummus with sumac and hearth baked pita was a good starter. There are a lot of choices for sharing and Happy Hour selections are a good value. The ambiance is modern woodsy. Noise level is high but everyone seemed to be having a good time.
Don't understand the food, I understand it's trying to be different but the space is cramped and the food was just ok. Would be worth going again and sitting at the bar perhaps

Like it but be prepared for noise, uncomfortable seats and crammed tables. It's like a lunch counter with good food.
We tried Avec during restaurant week, so that definitely helped make the experience more worthwhile, from a food cost perspective. The food was good but nothing stood out as unique or spectacular. It was tasty and well prepared. You will have a good meal here. The design and seating style made it super noisy. My friend and I had to lean in, being careful not to get food on ourselves, in order to have a conversation. The service was excellent. The wait staff were the highlight of the experience.
Went for brunch. Delicious bloody Mary, ample portions. Attentive service

Our server was nice, but generally slow. Had I read the reviews more carefully, I would have realized that the west loop location was NOT for us. The communal tables were terribly crowded. I had to ask someone else to get up so that we could leave. The food was fine, but nothing spectacular. We ordered: short rib hummus (best savory item), the chicken shwarma (meh I've had much better) and the deluxe focaccia (tasted terrible). We took dessert to go because it was so loud and I felt claustrophobic. The chocolate pie was no good - the figs didn't do anything for the dish and the burned flavor just stayed in our mouths way too long. The nutter butter bites were great though, totally worth the cost. Unfortunately we will not be returning, the meal was definitely not worth any hype.
I have been to Avec several times and it never fails to amaze me! Most recently, we enjoyed their restaurant week menu. They went above and beyond to accommodate two separate dietary restrictions (cashew/pistachio allergy and vegetarian). Everything we ate was amazing! The service was excellent as well. Highly recommend to anyone.
