I really wanted to like The Bad Owl – I live just a few blocks away and have given it plenty of chances, popping in solo 6-7 times and even bringing friends an other times. But unfortunately, the experience hasn’t improved. The coffee? It’s okay. The specialty lattes? Let’s just say ‘bland’ might be giving them too much credit.
But the real kicker is the service. Every time I walk in, I feel like I’m walking into a silent library instead of a neighborhood coffee shop. A simple ‘Good morning!’ or even a smile would go a long way, but here, it seems those small gestures are off the menu. I end up feeling like an unwelcome guest every time – a bit of a weird vibe for a place where I’m paying $8 for a latte.
So, if you’re looking for a pick-me-up with friendly service, you might want to keep walking. As for me, I’ve given it plenty of tries, and now, it’s time to let The Bad Owl fly solo.

Lovely coffee shop with unique drinks offerings as well as enough of a food menu and pastries. Friendly service, has wifi, and seating.

People were really nice but the drink was horrible. I got an iced soy matcha latte. The matcha quality was poor and the drink was grainy. Very disappointing for a new local spot
My first visit was about a week ago and I’ve been back three times since then. I have an espresso machine but sometimes I just want a treat that I don’t have to make. The Double Pumpkin Latte is delicious, hot and iced! I’m excited to explore the menu.

Nice place in the neighborhood to get your coffee or sit down and work. It is a large building with relatively few tables. There is a fairly large coffee roaster and large plastic buckets shielded by some fencing, but that looks less cozy. You have to order at the bar from a small menu card. That is less convenient. The coffee is very tasty. Sandwiches are okay. The service is a bit young and impersonal.

Love this place for the ocassional change from the other coffee shops in the area. Would make this my daily haunt if the coffees were better priced. I end up paying $8 for a small coffee with a tip which is out of my budget. The coffee and service is the best in the area but the pricing is not thoughtfully done to create daily regulars. The tip screen is socially stressful for me and the total cost ends up being too much when for the same thing in the area it is $6 total. I miss the old days of a tip jar. To avoid that kind of stress, I go to the other coffee shops here even though this is probably my favourite spot.

Go to neighborhood spot for coffee. Breakfast is also solid! There is space to work/study and service is always great!

Good coffee, nice atmosphere. But food prices are too high for what you get. $13.5 for a small burrito is wild

$14 for a burrito the size of my palm is insane. Especially when all it had was maybe 2 small pieces of bacon. Look at the small cup of salsa next to the burrito for reference… literally the same size. I had the horchata latte and it was amazing. Service could’ve been better, we’d never been there before and the barista made no attempt to offer assistance in helping my husband decide what to get/navigate the menu, just stood there staring. Could’ve asked what he usually likes to drink and then offered her opinions on some coffees he’d like. I don’t mind paying a little extra for good coffee but should definitely come with some good/friendly service especially if you’re gonna prompt us for a tip..

I came from out of town visiting family. Wanted good coffee! Have this place a go, so so good! The barista was so sweet. We got a flight and everything was delicious. Coffee was strong had bold flavors. The croissants they serve are so so buttery good!
AC was blasting great for this heat. Wifi is great. Definitely worth the visit.

Oh my goodness! What a gem of a place! My husband and I were just trying to find a decent coffee shop in town. This had a cute name so we picked it and it did not disappoint! It’s such a cute quaint local shop with great unique coffees and delicious food! I got the bacon, egg, avocado sandwich as well as a banana cold brew and my husband got the “Buns of power” sandwich and roasted almond latte. The roasted almond latte had small little bits of almonds which might sound strange but honestly it was so good and not a bad texture like one would think. They do cute coffee art and I hope next time I’m in town I’ll remember this place and stop by!
