This was a sort of weird experience. I was there with my family on Saturday and the ambiance was very nice and my whole family loved the smell. What disappointed us though was we were expecting authentic Indian cuisine yet this is as far from traditional as you could get. A little pricey as well. The cocktails were amazing though, especially the mango one. Our server, Mira, was also very efficient and answered all our questions. Their host, Divee, was also very kind and a delight to talk to on our way out. The food was the only let down at this restaurant, I really hope they make some changes next time.

This is a neighborhood favorite. We live a block over, and it is so hard not to end up here every night. The food is outstanding and worth the higher prices, and the Paan Chicagowala will always be a favorite cocktail of mine.

Good Indian spot in the neighborhood and nice ambiance. A little overpriced but the food was good

I really loved the atmosphere. The service is very nice everyone so polite. Very pleasant experience. The food was good as well. The best was the Mushroom Kulcha w/Truffle Garlic Butter was to die for. I wish I could eat that every day!! It pared perfectly with my lentil soup. Lamb chops could be a meal in itself these were some thick chops and with plenty of fries which I didn't expect. (my only comment and it's personal taste the reason I didn't rate 5 on the food is the two items I got were a little salty for my tastes so even though the flavor on the soup was excellent I couldn't finish it. Also, being Greek, we eat a lot of lamb chops and here I tasted a twinge of gaminess which I personally do not prefer but otherwise they were really good cooked to perfection and looked delicious just need to mention that for anyone with that taste profile.)

Really lovely meal. My relationship with Chicago Indian food has largely been one of disappointment (years of eating Indian food in Toronto and London will spoil you). But this place was fresh, perfectly cooked/seasoned, and clearly made with prime ingredients. Will definitely return.

Had a chance to try Basant during the Northcenter restaurant week and boy was I impressed. Beautifully decorated with soft stylish lights, patterns, and seating. Large dining area with a hansom bar where they make exotic drinks with berries and herbs and fruits and creativity. So good. The food is so full of tastes that are just not in any other ethnic foods. The soup was warm with a dash of spice to leave the heat on your tongue after each bite. The Chicken dishes were done perfectly but my friends said the Basant Salmon was their favorite. Tasty Cheesecake for desert. The service from the hostess, waiter, buss staff and bartender was attentive and welcoming. The owner checked I. With us at the end of the mean to ensure it met our approval which it did. I strongly recommend a visit to this very well run restaurant.

Dinner was excellent, interesting and generously portioned. Service was a little quick, so we were happy that we were indecisive and ordered appetizers only, then mains after we ate appetizers.

Excellent unique take on South Asian cuisine. It is an absolute godsend for dairy free and gluten free diners who aren’t usually able to eat this type of food. The atmosphere is beautiful, noise level is low and the drinks are delicious and strong. It’s my go-to spot for a nice night out.

We were a party of 4 for dinner on a Thursday night. Had a reservation and was glad because the place got pretty full. The ambience is great, the service was friendly and professional, if a tad bit slow. The food was all delicious, though it would be nice if they gave you a heat scale on the menu because some items ended up being too spicy for our preferences. The biggest issue is that the overhead lighting is intense and feels like a spotlight, but that's a small price to pay for delicious food in an otherwise beautiful space. Paid ~$100 per couple.

An amazing restaurant. The food is high quality and the dishes are all very flavorful, with generous portions. Cocktails are very inventive as well. We love coming here and will be back soon.

Such friendly and attentive staff. Delicious food with both approachable spice levels and hotter for those who can handle it. Nice atmosphere and very creative cocktails. Modern decor and when in season a really nice patio. And for the quality of food, as well as an elevated dining experience very reasonably priced. Have been twice and are sure to be going back.
