We told the negative chubby cashier with dark hair we wanted 2 cheeseburgers and he charged us 2 doubles . We confirmed 2 singles. Very rude. He actually got upset and threw our burgers on the counter to the side and told so you want kids burgers then. When we had no kids. He tried putting us on the spot and made us feel uncomfortable when we were polite the whole time and he was giving us attitude for no reason. He forced us to pay extra for burgers we never wanted and was trying to up sale and tell us what to it. The customer service was terrible. Ruined our experience. And next time we will for sure visit the second store in Chicago or the one at the Pier. But never again to the original store. We were disgusted by prejudice treatment towards us even tried to start an argument with my wife which she ignored him then he felt crunchy and thanked us after we bought our food.

I would give it 5, but the food is ok, it’s more of a legendary establishment that persist and is worth going to. Oh and it’s cheap.

Definitely a hidden staple. My partner and I went for a late dinner, food was great and fast. I loved my bacon, egg cheeseburger. The cashier kind and informative when I ordered the wrong thing ? The cook was kind and personable. Definitely recommend.

the best burger in Chicago Town ?However, I unfortunately have to note that a hamburger here costs around €10. So bundle up warmly with a thick wallet

An atmospheric place that is not easy to find in the urban jungle of Chicago at first glance. A meeting place with friends. Sometimes you can meet a celebrity. And, of course, it's delicious to eat, and it's also inexpensive. I recommend without reservation.

Embarrassed myself by attempting to order fries. ? In my defense the other locations have fries that are actually amazing. It's a decent burger for a more reasonable price than most other places downtown. I would say the quality is about the same as the one in the airport and the one on Lake St.

(from a class report, thank you for your excellent service during our visit!)The billygoat has a sort of purposefully dingey vibe, trying to be a sort of on the low spot for those 'in the know.' with tons of pictures on every wall. It is almost a literal hole in the wall, built into the foundation of lower Wacker drive. There's a bit of classic vintage nostalgia, with tables patterned in red checker and stools that really spin right in front of the bright neon signs. The cashier reminded me a bit of five guys, using specific words and tonal inflection to call out certain menu items as they're ordered, like the Obama or the Double Cheese. The staff was very polite and friendly. There's a toppings bar where people add their own toppings, so the chef basically just grills, and the cashier focuses on cleaning and selling items. They did try up charges, and were pretty good at them. The bar also has a bartender, who seems to be similar to the cashier in selling and cleaning her area. They use a Square card reader, so they take both cash and card. Food is ordered sometimes before the previous customer has paid, with the cashier servicing the full line at a time, with burgers ready at insane speeds. Free waters are offered, and the menu is somewhat limited.Seeing lots of tourists again. This seems to be more of an 'in the know' spot, so there are some locals, who seem to congregate mostly at the bar, with tourists taking up the majority of the tables. The restaurant also varied in crowd size while we visited, being sort of medium full when we arrived around 1:50, then becoming briefly busy around 2, then calming down and somewhat emptying out around 2:20.

Remember your order, when they're done cooking it they don't call out your name, they'll call out your order, so it's your responsibility to pay attention.Fantastic place though, love the atmosphere and the history, definitely worth stopping if you're in the area
