So delicious and so special to us!!! Black Dog Gelato is incredible - truly the best in Chicago. Every flavor is amazing and their team is impeccable. My husband used to live by their Damen & Iowa location and then we lived together near their Logan Square location when it was open. Our first date ended at Black Dog, and our dog is named Gelato (nicknamed Jelly). For our wedding this year, we had Black Dog in place of a wedding cake. They were so excellent to work with for this event. We had three of their standard flavors and one special flavor, which was “wedding cake” aka birthday cake without the sprinkles and with an added “Jelly” swirl. Everyone was obsessed!!! It was a perfect personal touch to the day and everything tasted SO good!!!

Flavors were fantastic but it was so melted and messy I couldn't bring it home without the gelato getting everywhere. I don't know if there were issues at the shop with temperature control or what. It was a mess and very frustrating driving home 2 min away covered in gelato.

My favorite ice cream in all of Chicago. Homemade fresh every single day so when they run out that’s it! I love that this is a small business with so much heart. The flavors are incredible. The goat cheese cashew caramel is my go to and a fan favorite. The Italian Cookie tastes exactly like biscoff cookies. Serving size is perfect. Each scoop is not too big nor too small, and every bite is packed with flavor. They have amazing options for vegans too, so many dairy free options and days where they only serve dairy free! Staff are super sweet, there is lovely little outdoor patio area with string lights and tables under shady trees. My favorite spot to grab ice cream with friends (or solo!) and sit awhile. I have been eating Black Dog for the last 5 years and I can’t recommend it enough.

Rare city find. The creaminess, sugar content and flavors are European grade, it transports you to a whole new world out of the city. What a great business. Their limited flavors is not overwhelming like other ice-cream businesses and hospitality superb. Nice to be greeted and served by someone that enjoys their product and their job instead of disgruntled corporate ice-cream employees.

Small ice cream shop with home made ice creams. Have interesting flavors on rotation (like olive oil which was surprisingly good). They have gluten free options too. No sitting inside but bunch of tables/benches outside
