Prequel is my favorite coffee shop in Chicago. Their menu is small but it absolutely shines in the coffee department. They really know what they're doing here. The brown sugar cardamom latte is perfectly sweet with just the right amount of spice. The rose and lavender matcha is also a favorite of mine. The cafe offers some of the best breakfast options in Chicago, including egg sandwiches that are highly praised and possibly the best outside of NYC. Their Bagels are also considered exceptional. The space is clean, adorable, and quaint, making it a perfect place to relax. The staff are friendly, courteous, and professional, providing outstanding service. The coffee beans and barista skills are impeccable, ensuring a consistent cup every time. The chai is perfectly spiced, and the drinks are on point, with a variety of options including lavender rose matcha. While their tea selection could be better, the overall experience is enjoyable. Many customers find the vibe very friendly and inviting, often staying longer to enjoy the atmosphere. Ordering ahead online is recommended during busy periods to ensure a smooth visit.
