Quite nice but a bit bland. They had things on the menu that I would only find in someone’s home which was quite special.

The food was delicious. We ordered several dishes and they were all excellent. I'm adding Cairo Kebab to my go-to places.

The lady at restaurant gave my order away and offered no apology, and told me I had to order again (no refund). Be careful when ordering a pickup order here, they make mistakes very often.

Visited first time and we loved this place! Food was freshly made and tasted as such! Service was quick and with a smile, seems like a family owned restaurant, and they treat you as such, taking the time to explain the menu items, and came back a few times with a friendly smile to check on us. Food is reasonably priced and really tasty! We were 3 people and ordered an appetizer, main entrees, and a couple of sides and drinks. Their mint drink was superb, truly refreshing! Will be going back whenever I'm in this part of the town for sure, and I know it'll be worth the trip if I crave it to make a special trip just for their delicious food!

They said it’s all halal, and so we tried two of
their items. The chicken soup was good. You can keep in mind that the portion of chicken is very limited, though. The main dish was also good. The vegetables were tasy. The meat (beef) was a little hard though. I expected a little soft and juicy. One main dish amount was good for two of us.

HIGHLY recommended. This was my first Egyptian food experience, and the food was simple and phenomenal. The ful is the perfect blend of savory and tangy, the shawarma was flavorful and tender, and the Arab coffee was wonderful. I will absolutely be back. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, and the staff are very welcoming. This is now on my short list. I love Arab food, and Cairo does not disappoint. I rarely give 5 stars, but this place absolutely deserves it.

Cairo Kebab is an absolute gem in University Village! Located right next door to my office, it's one of my all-time favorite places to eat. The food is always fresh, flavorful, and comforting. I especially love their lentil soup, creamy hummus with warm pita, kofta kebab, and perfectly sweet rice pudding. But my must-have is the lemon mint juice—so refreshing and delicious!
Iman, who’s often at the front and also serves, is consistently warm, helpful, and welcoming. Her kindness and attention to detail always elevate the experience.
I’ve dined in, ordered out, had it delivered, and even partnered with them to cater our organization’s cultural and heritage month events and every time, the food and service have been a hit. So grateful to have them in the neighborhood. Highly recommend!

Food always comes out to perfection, the service is amazing. Everything here is done with love they deserve all the business.
This is one of the best restaurants I’ve visited in the States. My family and I went twice, and both times were exceptional.
During our first visit for dinner, we enjoyed Koshari, Molokhya with rice and chicken, Kebbda, hawawshi, spicy eggplant, lentil soup and Egyptian tea with mint.
On our second visit for dinner , we tried the beef liver (Kebbda) again Egyptian style and Hawawshee, Macaronca belbashamel, beef and lamb shawerma, Koshary, baba ghanog, Taamya, hummus, Tabola and koshary which were freshly made and bursting with incredible flavors. We ended the meal with a delightful Basbousa and roz blaban (rice pudding) dessert. The food was genuinely authentic Egyptian and incredibly delicious.
The owner, Mohamed ( and also the chef ) was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and made us feel at home. He is a very kindhearted and cooks with love. He told us that his dad taught him how to cook and i really want to thank his dad for teaching him this delicious authentic Egyptian food that also made with love.
It's a good idea to call in advance for a unique experience.. I wish i live in Chicago beacuse of Cairo Kabab!
I really can't wait to return. Thank you so much for the delicious food and the amazing hospitality.

Ordered the Cairo platter with Egyptian salad and chicken orzo soup for takeout. All was really tasty, meats were well marinated and seasoned. Salad was like a normal Greek salad, and I really liked the flavor of the orzo soup - hardly any chicken in it though. Overall it was good food at a decent price and I would order here again.

The food is absolutely incredible. The koshary is odd and yet comforting and delicious. Baba Ghanoush is great as well, albeit a small portion. The hawashi was incredible, very well spiced and just a perfect treat to accompany a night out.
