The food is made to perfection. They offer parking across the street which is ideal. The bread they offer as an appetizer is always so fresh, and delicious. There is a wide range of pastas to choose from. They are always made fresh, and so creamy and rich in flavor. Always a great meal, and time when I come here.

I know my stars mean nothing, but I have to vent. Calo's used to be a reliable place to watch the Chicago Cubs play baseball while enjoying a wonderful meal. I don't have cable, so it was nice to have a place to spend my money and enjoy a game. I LOVE the staff at Calo's and previously gave them 5 stars and rave review. But for some dumb reason, the current manager won't put the Cub's games on any of the TVs. They have 5 TVs in the bar area, and he won't put the Cubs on any of them. He says that other people will complain if he does. What? With 5 TVs, if someone complains that one of them has the Cubs, let 'em. This is on the Northside of Chicago, on Clark Street! Just 1.5 miles from Wrigley Field. Pure dumb weirdness.

Attended a private event in a banquet room, food was buffet style but no less delicious than usual. Take your pick, ribs chicken vesuvio, the best rigatoni you can imagine, something for every taste. And the bar is nice too, give it a try!

I made reservations here on a Friday at 7 for a date. We got to the restaurant about 10 after 7 (I had let them know we would be a little late over the phone). We were not seated til about 7:40. I understand we were late but 30 minutes is quite a bit of time for having a reservation. No worries, the staff is friendly and we get seated. We got a table in a great location and were greeted with table bread a few minutes after sitting. We informed the waiter of some food allergies we had at the table and he was very considerate throughout the night ensuring everything we ordered was checked first to ensure it was okay. We started with the Prosciutto e Burrata. Our waiter left off the dressing due to it containing an allergen. The prosciutto and burrata itsself were of high quality. The tomato and bed of arugula were fresh too, and the portion was generous. Then we got the fried calamari. The first thing I noticed was how much was on the plate and the variety of squid cuts. The breading was crunchy and light, and seasoned well. The squid was cooked nicely, and the cocktail sauce was excellent. Then we ordered our mains. I got the Linguini Carbonara and my partner got the Mushroom Truffle Ra Violi. Both portions of pasta were massive! I was shocked at the size. I only was able to eat about half of my plate because of how much food I had eaten before (bread and apps). The Carbonara was great though. Loved how creamy and well-executed the sauce was. I didn’t have the Mushroom Truffle Ra Violi but my partner seemed to enjoy it. We wanted to get dessert but the only thing my partner wanted was Tiramisu and unfortunately, it had soy in it. I found a few times this was the case, as my partner also could not get the original dish she wanted, the Gnocchi Gorgonzola because it had soy as well. It’s unfortunate but this is not the restaurant’s fault and I appreciate how considerate our waiter was to keep it in mind and take our allergens seriously. Overall, this place has a massive menu and there is something really for everyone. The atmosphere is great for family dining, a date or even a nice evening with friends - it has lots of versatility. I will say, be sure to make reservations if it’s a weekend because I overheard the hostess turning away people left and right because the wait was so long. I’m not sure if it’s somewhere we would come often but I am really glad I came by to try it, as the food we did have was delicious, with generous portions, fair prices, and excellent dining service.
