Servers were lack luster and unhappy, the newer food options were NOT a hit! Overall just a disappointing experience

I had shrimp wrap and crab shrimp dip. Shrimp wrap is tasty. Crab and shrimp dip should be renamed as a spread absolutely no meat in the dip. The chips were good. Drinks were very good and I love the atmosphere.

Chant seemed like a perfect little place for dinner. We were seated quickly and the waitress was prompt. Our food was served in a timely manner. The small tacos had one very thin tortilla for each and did not hold the contents well at all. We asked for another set of the tortillas to add a layer so they could be eaten properly. The waiter brought them and informed us there’d be a charge. We kindly asked for the manager. That’s where things went bad. He was rude right from the start and explained it wasn’t his fault, it was the cook’s fault! Think about that statement! Then he actually rolled his eyes and folded his hands, pouting like a toddler. His unprofessionalism and disrespect were not even close to what anyone in food service should display, especially the manager! He very reluctantly took the charge off for the extra tortillas and refused to finish the conversation. No patron should be treated like this. What a waste of a dinner out. 😡

I was really looking forward to my online order of fried rice, but unfortunately, it was a major disappointment. The rice itself was burnt and had a distinct burnt taste that overwhelmed any other flavors. It was a shame, as I've had good experiences with this restaurant in the past.

Watch out when ordering online. They don't seem to mind what they send out.

I got sick as hell from their crab cakes. Vomit and diarrhea all night. I feel terrible. I do NOT RECOMMEND!

We had five dishes and all were subpar. The general tsao chicken was too sweet. The noodles were not flavorful. With so many other options for food, I would not come here.

The food was disappointing, at best. Below average chef. My friend ordered the short rib tacos and wings. The tacos were fried (bad idea with a fatty meat) and very very greasy. The wings were actually big, tasty and cooked just right. I ordered the tempura chicken salad and had to send it back. Who fries tempura chicken (it was a fried patty that had been chopped, not indicated on the menu)? The salad was filled with a mayo based overly creamy dressing. I tried the salmon patty and fries next and it was average. The fries were extra salty and soft. The patty was okay. I do not recommend this restaurant.

When I visit Chicago, Chant Restaurant is my favorite in Hyde Park. I hosted a Girl's Trip and took the ladies to experience the delicious food and awesome drinks. We had a great time. The food, service and atmosphere was superb! Thank you Aldo and your staff!
