Love their pastries and desserts. They sometimes have other things like dim sum and rice cakes. The service is fine, like other typical Asian spots. The ambiance is a small bakery that is mostly boarded up inside. They are cash only so please prepare. There are other bakeries nearby that will take card if you choose to go elsewhere.

Great bakery shop for some OG Chinese eats. We went to the Little Argyle location around 10 AM, and the items were very fresh and inexpensive. Picked up a char siu bao (4/5) and a hotdog bun (4/5), and it was delicious and a nice pre-cursor to lunch.

1000% recommend! I honestly got frustrated because I've passed it so many times without going in, and now I know that I could've avoided the disappointing versions of buns and pastries? Upsetting. There are both savory and sweet options alike, absolutely everything is delicious. I ordered a pork cabbage steamed bun, pork and shrimp ball, custard bun, egg tart, almond cookie, and pineapple pie. Better than some of the places I've back home. This is not the place to be concerned about nutritional value. The cabbage bun was wonderfully fluffy, and rather than chunks of oversalted pork, it's all well incorporated with very flavorful cabbage. The biggest surprise was the pork and shrimp ball - I was curious and decided to try it. It's a sweet rice cake with a savory filling, and it works so well.Custard bun was evenly filled, with no excessive air pockets. Literally every bite had custard, and the caramelized top was flaky and soft. The egg tart's center was so soft that I half expected it to completely run out of the crust. It has a great soft texture and is ginormous.Note, they're cash only!! But I will be bringing everyone I know in so they're able to expetience the peak too.

Not sure who to believe. Hit the Chi Quon in Chinatown last week and noticed the buns were much cheaper. Weird right. I ask Whatsup? They let me know that the uptown location is no longer theirs. It's been sold. Sold you say? But how are they keeping the same bakery name? Displaying the OG articles and taking the fame CQB worked so hard for? Overall I still really love the spot. I just don't like being lied to. I'd happily continue buying from them if it was ABC bakery instead of chi Quon. Not sure why the imitation was needed

One of my favorite bakeries in all of Chicagoland. This chain of bakeries can be found all over. This location located in the Argyle area is cheaper than the Chinatown location. $1.80 for a lot of the buns. The buns are just good and fresh and perfectly dense yet light. Always a must stop when in the area.

Delicious Portuguese Egg Tarts. Looking forward to trying other baked goods next time I’m in the area, now that I’ve found it :)

No frills spot, cash only. Went in with like $20 bucks left with like 10 things. Pro tip- the baos are dank and reheat like kings. Use a wet paper towel , wrap and reheat in microwave for 1 Min. They come out piping hot and fresh. The buns like hotdog buns and bbq pork are awesome too - bread reminds me of Hawaiian bread! Egg tarts are always good. The spot always has a line and is a bit intimidating if you don’t know what you are doing but just grab a random bao and bun, you will be fine.10/10 spot serving chicago since 1986!

Everything is amazing!! The sweet and savory rolls/buns, the warm milk drink on the weekends will satisfy and warm you up. There’s something for the “American taste” and for those looking for tastes from Asia. The Portuguese egg tarts are my favorite.

Good food but lines are long and move very slow during the weekends especially around late morning and early

Excellent experience. Line was long, but it was well worth the wait. Everything was delicious and fresh. It's cash only, so come stacked to bring home all the treats!

Service is a little slow, cash only, and I always wish the pineapple buns were better and slightly less $. Egg tarts solid!

Great place! Love the buns! Price is reasonable! Filling for BBQ bun has improved. For the price, fillings shouldn't be cheap.

Portuguese egg tarts are delicious. Pork buns are must buy too. This is a cash only establishment. Fair pricing. Definitely a must try bakery.

Really really good pastry. My favorite are the savory buns with hotdogs. Pastry ladies are a little impatient but that's because there is always a line out the door. FYI: there's no indoor seating for dine in and is is cash only.
