The best Korean BBQ in Chicago. I went back after 9 years, and it still tasted just as good. We had the chadolbaegi, and the quality was amazing. The employees even came over to grill it for us. The fried rice was delicious too. I’ll definitely return the next time I visit Chicago.

Cho Sun Ok is a hidden gem for authentic Korean BBQ in Lincoln Square. I stopped by around 1 PM on a Saturday for lunch and ordered the bulgogi and galbi gui. The bulgogi was tender and flavorful, and the galbi gui was juicy with a perfect char. The banchan were plentiful and varied, adding a nice touch to the meal. The staff was attentive, and the atmosphere was cozy. Only downside? It can get a bit busy, so be prepared to wait a bit.

This restaurant is owned by a Korean man who is allegedly known to be 88 years old.
Some side dishes are super authentic. In particular, water radish kimchi. It was a banger.
One thing I disliked about this restaurant is ventilation. They need to invest ventilation facility.
After you finish your meal, you will basically smell like meat.

My party of five waited about 45 mins for a table. Another party of five was waiting behind us. The hostess decided to seat the party of five waiting behind us first. We tried to tell the hostess that we were ahead of them, and she straight up informed us that she was seating them first because we are larger people. So, she wouldn't seat us because she thought we were fat. We ended up going to the awesome Mexican place around the corner. We won't be coming back.
My second time eating here, the food is fantastic and the vibe is very comfortable. The japchae was delicious. Definitely one of my favorite spots to stop when I'm in Chicago.
