Great joint with "old Chicago" vibes. Old style on tap, checkered table clothes, and good cheap food. Really great place to grab a beer and complain about the weather or take someone out for a nice dinner. Cost me about $30 for a beef, salad, and three beers.

The best veal anywhere - Although their chicken versions are just as good. Pizza bread w sausage is to die for. Wonderful homemade soups and meatballs w sauce. Very reasonably priced and owned by two great brothers who took over for their parents.

Classic family Italian dishes, fantastic service at a fare price. Giancarlo one of the two brothers / owners stopped by to introduce himself & thank us for choosing his family restaurant. Added bonus: they have Gluten-free pasta.Definitely going back when in that neighborhood.

Excellent food, decent atmosphere. We arrived at 8:30 p.m. (with a reservation), and were immediately told by our waitress that we needed to order very soon because they were closing. Felt rushed with the meal...entree's came out before we were even done with salad. I'm not saying to not go--food was excellent. But don't go after about 8:00!

Hadn't been there in years literally maybe 15 years went after a show opening and couldn't have enjoyed ourselves more the staff is always kind and fun the patrons are kind and fun the food is absolutely okay better than okay Italian and the atmosphere lent itself to a casual nature of truly visiting with a good friend if you haven't been in a while I suggest you go back it was fun simple but not necessarily cheap..Dietary restrictions: My dinner guest was a client they are Celiac and gluten free and it's a very big health risk to not follow this guidelines felt confident with the pastas they were recommending and he felt like he was getting inspiring me as I was that it was all gluten free the waiter took special note and you could tell was diligent about making sure it was a appropriate environment for the preparation of the food as well as the appetizers. Made good suggestions and was willing to readjust the menu however possible to accommodate my guest. That part I was very impressed with.

I ordered delivery via Postmates from Club Lago for the first time on 02/19/24. I never heard of Club Lago before this. I specifically ordered the Meat Filled Tortellini with Meat Sauce & a Cannoli. What I received instead was Penne Pasta with Meat Sauce. I figured that perhaps they had run out of the Tortellini. I had a problem reaching Postmates so I called Club Lago & spoke to Giancarlo. He didn't address the issue I encountered with the order, but provided a phone number for Postmates via the Merchant line. Postmates refused to give me a refund or reorder at their expense. Camille from Postmates called Giancarlo to discuss other options. Giancarlo wouldn't admit to the error & sided with whoever handled the order. Thus, according to him I was making this up. I know the difference between Tortellini Pasta & Penne Pasta; I'm not so sure they do. These 2 entities refused to do the right thing. I cancelled the Postmate App & won't do business with any affiliates connected to them. I'll never order from Club Lago again. Chicago has millions of more reputable restaurants that would be happy to service me without having me jump through hoops to get what I paid for.

I give it 4.5 stars. The food was great and I got the veggie pasta dish. I do have to say the atmosphere wasn't my favorite, if you're going for fancy/nice italian this is not it since it's gives casual vibes with loud explicit musicnand I wouldn't necessarily bring young children here due to that. Food was great though, probably will order to go next time

Club Lago offers a delightful dining experience with its charming ‘old school' ambiance and classic Italian cuisine. The warm, welcoming atmosphere of this family-owned establishment since 1952 is not to be missed! The pasta, chicken parm and veal were outstanding. Club Lago is a Chicago gem for those seeking a genuine Italian dining experience.

Please do something about the urinal cake smell emanating from the bathrooms. I brought friends in from out of state for dinner. I have always ate dinner at the bar, so I never noticed the smell. The night I was there, it was strong. I made the comment about it because I could tell everyone else was being kind not to mention it to me. They all loved the food. Service was great. Just the smell!

I've patronized Lago for years but yesterday I celebrated my 40th birthday there with my family. The food blew us away. The music and ambiance made it so special. Every single person there, from owner to staff to other diners seemed nothing short of family themselves. The best Chicago has to offer.
