The ambience is really nice here. There’s a lot of space, nice bar, and private areas and low lighting. I enjoyed all of the food and the drink I had. I also had the sorbet for dessert…3 different flavors: raspberry, coconut, and mango. The coconut was spectacular, the raspberry was good, and the mango was not the best. I did not eat it, it tasted very bland. My only other critique is that the waiters were too attentive. I’m sure management advise them to always check on the table but it was a bit excessive to the point it constantly interrupted me and my friend’s conversation. They kept refilling the water when it was full and didn’t really give us enough time and space to look over and process the menu, the experience felt rushed at times because of this.

Probably one of the best experience I had in a long time. Outstanding food & hospitality. Table side service was top notch. I would absolutely recommend everything I had: Tuna Ponzu guacamole, grilled octopus, short rib tacos, ceviche Amarillo, angry tuna, Churrasco, Salmon achiote ponzu, scallops & porkbelly & grilled asparagus. Nightcap flaming coffee, yellow corn cake & La bomba.
I can’t wait for my next visit. Such an incredible restaurant.

Very hectic experience from booking reservation had to call several times to the dining experience. I booked for my husbands birthday and being rushed out because the new years bash? WE literally had to wait down to the minute for our reservation by the hostess to be seated and weren't informed we would be rushed to order. Waitress was very nice, wasn't her fault. Waitress looked very rushed and barely came back to our table. It looked like the main priority was cleaning up preparing for the private event. They even forgot one of our plates we had to notify the waitress. I couldn't even order him a desert for his birthday. Some of the starters were amazing but the plates themselves do not have the flavor profile that makes you want to come back and combined with the whole experience definitely wasn't worth it.

My son and I each had the 14 oz Rib-eye steaks . First time in Chicago , so we had to try steaks. Coming from Vancouver BC we wanted to have them “ Chicago-Style Char steak“ , the waiter looked a little confused so he went back to the chef for clarification-apparently they don’t have the right kind of cooking equipment for “Chicago-style Char Steak . The steaks were very tasty.
The glazed octopus was deliciously tender as an appetizer-not a large portion but in a high end restaurant you don’t expect large appetizers 😉.
Because we are staying at the Chicago Fairmont we had a couple of drink vouchers and I guess the restaurant is new so it took a little while to straighten out , I tried to order the flaming coffee but they were unavailable instead went for the Mango Coquito, it was very delicious and also lit on 🔥 .

On last day of our Chicago visit, we ate at Toro, Fairmont Chicago. They accommodated us and our pooch in stroller without reservation on Christmas Day, so it gets my full approval. Ambience was very inviting and cozy. Our server was knowledgeable, attentive and polite. He even little bit talked about Latin cuisine spices they used and preps they do for few of the dishes. Their menu was well rounded with choice for everyone. For starters we ordered Cachapas, it was very nice combination of sweet and savory Latin American corn pancakes. For entree, my husband ordered Zarandeado, branzino with zarandeado aioli, grilled avacado & lemon, fency coleslaw and pica de gallo. He said it was exceptionally good. I ordered grilled cauliflower and let me tell you, being only vegetarian in my family, I have eaten my fair share of cauliflower steak variants at various restaurants but this cauliflower was10/10. Portion was pretty ample, so initially I thought, I may not be able to finish it but by the end of the dinner my plate was clean. It was that good. We also ordered grilled asparagus and Latin American glass of wine. They both were pretty good. My only regret is why we didn’t eat in this restaurant earlier in our stay to try out other dishes. I also regret not taking any pictures of the food. If you are visiting Chicago, I would suggest you to try out Toro. It is fairly new, so even if Chicagoan looking for new restaurant to try, don’t miss out on this.

As soon as we walked in, the ambiance and atmosphere was a 10/10. Everyone was super welcoming and accommodating. Our Waiter Freddy and the General Manager Gerado made our experience at Toro so memorable. All the dishes we had were delicious and super tasty. Anyone in Chicago looking for a new restaurant to try, visit Toro!!!!! We ended the night selecting what dishes we were going to try next time we come! Get the flaming coffee!!

Everything was excellent!! I am stuffed! Loved the empanadas and the short rib tacos. I can’t remember the name of the dish but it had chicken, steak, lamb chops and chorizo, yum! And it was plenty for 3 adults and 1 kid.
