Dave’s Red Hots in North Lawndale is a true Chicago classic. I grabbed a Polish sausage with everything—mustard, sport peppers, and thin-sliced pickles—plus fries and a pop, all for under $10. The Polish had that perfect snap, and the hand-cut fries were crispy and golden. It's a no-frills spot with a rich history, but seating is limited, so be prepared to take your meal to go. Still, it's a must-visit for any hot dog enthusiast.
Good lord, this place is phenomenal. Deservedly famous, one of the very best hot dog joints in the city. Around since the 30s, 4th generation black female owned business, the line is long for good reason! Excellent dogs (recommend deep frying for 25c), and every dog is topped with a generous portion of fries, which are *perfect.* Mozzarella sticks are spectacular too, and under $5
The people are, there are very friendly and nice. But the only thing about it. Once you place your order, there's no where to say you basically have to stand until your orders ready. And they have a section all roped off where you can't sit down. It's only 2 little places to sit in and once you place a order then somebody. If 2 people sitting in there you can't sit down. But then that the food was delicious. The French rides are really, really good in my experience....
