Probably best açaí I’ve had. I only wish the protein powder didn’t cost an extra $3

Best açaí bowl in Chicago! The fruit is so fresh! Everything about it was delicious! Oscar in the west loop was so nice and made the best bowl!

$20 for an açaí cup after tip and taxes. The açaí base is all sugar - I’ve had ice cream that’s less sweet than this. Nothing healthy or natural about this place. Also, “unlimited toppings” is a joke. You get as many as you want, but it all amounts to nothing. They gave me a third of a banana, half a strawberry, and 3 blueberries. That was my “unlimited” amount. If you’re looking for a bowl of sugar, you’ll love it. If you want an açaí bowl, avoid this place.

Service was so bad, when I went there the worker was talking to her friend on the phone and said the system was down when it clearly wasn’t. She just didn’t want to clean up after closing. Also she told me there was only 3 toppings for the açaí which is false because I went on the website to do an online order and it showed unlimited options. She simply used every excuse to not make the açaí bowl because she was lazy and would rather talk on the phone when there were no other customers in line. Would not recommend this location at all.

I was not greeted as I walked up to pick up my order. I was told to wait. That’s fine but it’s not ok to prep six bowls and not ask what I need. I waited patiently for 5 minutes while bowls were prepped and my bowl was sitting there melting. Finally I had to ask for him to just hand me my order. He looked confused. I was confused and flabbergasted at the lack of customer service and how rude he was. It only takes 10 seconds to hand someone their order. Why make me wait like that and I was the only person in line? The bowl was good but they won’t see another dollar from me.

I enjoyed the acai bowl. It's a great place to get a healthy breakfast in the morning or afternoon snack. The take out process was quick and easy.

Expensive and Rude! Short Indian man was very rude and short with me. He had wireless headphones on and acted like he didn't care. Also, gave me a very small portion. I will definitely not be back.

Needing a quick bite while we traversed downtown Chicago on Marathon Day (Our daughter was running in it), we happened by Deep Purpl. Empanadas are an easy sell and they had a good variety of them.

This is a small storefront that, as I recall, doesn't have a restroom for customer use. It's got a number of seats facing a large window facing Wabash Ave. Even on a Sunday morning the people watching was interesting.

This is an order-at-the-counter kinda place. I ordered the ham and cheese empanada and a bacon/date/gouda empanada and a bottle of water. As my wife sat down at one of the 6 or so seats available I waited for our food a different lady was heating our empanadas. The lady who took our order did fine, given I could tell that English was her second language (Spanish being first, I'm pretty sure), while the woman preparing out food apparently only spoke Spanish. She tried, but every time she had a question she had to get the other lady to translate. Not a big deal, as it illustrates how diverse a city Chicago is.

Our food took less than 10 minutes. The empanadas were small-ish (the nature of empanadas) but were HOT and tasty. It was exactly what we needed to get us fueled up for the rest of the walking we needed to do while trying to catch up with our daughter.

I can imagine how busy Deep Purpl must get on a business day. While we didn't try an Açaí bowl, they looked delicious and they had A LOT of toppings for them.
