goodNESS this is a phenomenal meal. you are bombarded with delicious scents the minute you walk in, and it’s such a cozy intimate space, beautifully decorated. we had the samosas (excellent), chicken 65 (incredible), kofta makhani (divine), and the dhanteraz lamb biriyani (may have changed my life). even the garlic & onion naans were wonderful. drink-wise, i think every table had mango lassis, and this is correct. we also shared a cup of the saffron coffee, which was the creamiest & best coffee i can imagine. i’d be remiss not to mention the beautiful service we got from victoria—she was amazing and really put a lovely bow on our gorgeous meal. can’t wait to return!
Parking: roscoe parking is what it is. we found one a couple blocks away and considered ourselves supremely lucky.

We love Dhanteraz and have been multiple times already (I lost count but over 4 times I believe) since they opened. The food is authentic and amazing, the servers are friendly and make you feel very welcomed, and the warmth of the restaurant adds to the overall feeling at home ambiance. Every time we go and the food comes out, it feels like someone in the kitchen loves you and is cooking just for you (I hope and believe it is an uncle or auntie back there making everyone’s food because it sure feels like it!). My go-to keeps being the chicken tikka masala, lately we tried the lamb, and everyone’s favorite, their biryani is just delicious, generous, and beautiful looking. I highly recommend pairing any of the above with rice and the garlic naan to make sure you clean the sauce off your plates (we don’t let any go to waste, haha). Excited to keep coming back!

Food and service was amazing!
If you want to have a good time, start with samosas, get any chicken with garlic naans! Truly the best Indian I’ve had so far, highly recommended!!! Shout out to Privaliska, she was extremely kind and attentive!

I don’t like to leave bad reviews, but am making an exception for this place. Really surprised by the positive reviews here.
Ordered the butter chicken with mild spice, and it had almost no flavor. It tasted vaguely of tomato and nothing else. It’s not revolting, it’s definitely very edible, but it just tastes like… nothing.
This isn’t a spiciness issue either - there are other flavors besides “spicy” that can and should be showcased. I’ve ordered plenty of mild butter chicken at other places that actually tasted like something.
Alright, ready for another ultra-defensive response from whoever runs this restaurant’s Google page.

Been here twice and both times the food was fantastic. Everything tasted wonderful, portions are generous and all reasonably priced. We usually walk out with another meal or two in leftovers. The biryani in particular is highly recommended. The staff are also all extremely nice and helpful with any questions. Can’t recommend this place enough.

The food was underwhelming. We ordered from here because of the great reviews. However we’re disappointed. We ordered chicken 65, paneer tikka masala, and chicken biryani. The chicken 65 was decent, paneer was like vodka sauce mixed in with paneer - would not recommend at all. The biryani is not Hyderabadi biryani. It had carrots in it and lacked freshness and flavor.
Overall, this place does not live up to the yup. Would recommend the suburbs for good Indian food.

Amazing food and service! Our server was the sweetest and gave us great recommendations. Chef came out to greet us as well and told us about upcoming specials. Dhanteraz biryani is awesome, some of the best we have had. Overall a great experience. We will be back.
