As much as I wanted to support and give a small business a great rating, I have to be honest and cannot. Ordered the combo that is chicken, side salad and spaghetti. I also paid extra to order a small greens. I did not get my salad. The greens had no flavor. I mean NONE. Straight up bland. And I ordered close to open so expected the food to be fresh, hot, flavorful. First and last time supporting this business.

jerk chicken salad. very tasty. I would only recommend that they add more greens to balance out the amount of meat.

Upon entering, there was a football game on the tv. But the inside is so chill. It has a variety of artists, actors, activists etc on the wall. I loved loved loved everything about it! I heard about this place originally through tik tok and it was about the Sunday plates. So of course I had to try it! It was sooooooo good I don't know where the candied yams went! It well all well seasoned and plenty I may have to go back to get a plate home to go! I was in Chicago for the weekend and I had to find soul food!! Not only was the food amazing. I had the pleasure with speaking to Nicole (the owner). It's rare that you get to sit and actually speak with the owner. The topic ranged from football to the local area. If you want to feel at home and also very full (like me) this is the place to go! Will be back on my Next visit!

The food is super delicious and the prices are berry reasonable. The cheesecake is a must have! I enjoy the chili and chicken. Also don't forget the Judy juice. The manager is very professional and courteous

I placed a fairly large lunch order for work. The food was good and they were punctual with food preparation. I would definitely recommend this establishment.

“Doughboys on 71st Street” is a hidden culinary treasure, and it’s more than just a restaurant; it’s a community gem that serves up not only incredible food but also a sense of togetherness. This black-owned eatery has quickly become a neighborhood favorite, and it’s not hard to see why.The star of the show at Doughboys has to be their catfish and spaghetti. It’s a unique combination that packs a flavorful punch. The catfish is perfectly crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and paired with their signature spaghetti, it’s a match made in food heaven. The flavors are a delightful mix of Southern and Italian influences, creating a dish that’s truly unforgettable.

My experience... Doughboy's Restaurant is a quaint little establishment. Very culture driven. I wanted to taste a variety of thingson their menu so I ordered the Kobe Koncocktion . Everything was good. My family was happy and surprised. The only thing I would change is the size of the sides... for a order that big the sides should be larger to balance the rest of the meal. Thank you ..I will return to patronize again.

I've ordered from here twice and the grilled chicken salad is great. The seasoning and taste of the grilled chicken is what actually makes the salad since it only includes onions, tomatoes, and multi colored peppers...I usually order and add boiled eggs and cheese when I get home lol. Also the Judy Juice / Kool-Aid is bomb. Get you some.

I try to find the positive in everything. First, the customer service was awesome. Friendly staff. Even though they forgot my salad, the service was a positive experience.Food-my spaghetti was VERY dry and lacked meat. The flavor was fine, just dry. I’m not use to dry spaghetti. I also didn’t order veggie spaghetti. The catfish was not catfish. It was Swai. I grew up on catfish steaks, fillets and nuggets and that’s was not catfish. I am disappointed they advertise catfish..The nuggets are cut up Swai filets. The fish and fries also lacked flavor. None! The fries were soggy. I realize I didn’t eat them hot. I requested they be cooked hard for this reason. The jive nacho dip was not the best and again lacked meat. The nacho chips were TOO salty.Outside-I realize we are still in a pandemic. However, it’s 26 degrees in Chicago and you can’t enter the restaurant. A table is blocking the entrance. You either go back to your car, or wait outside. The neighborhood is not the best, or savory.I hope these things change. I read other reviews. The food was too salty for many people. Where’s the middle ground? I drove 1 hour one way for the food.Maybe, it was an off day? I was not impressed; however, keep the positive attitudes. Make improvements with the food. All the best!
