One of the best meals I've had in Chicago in a long time. Our server Marco was exceptional - we were celebrating a birthday and he made our experience SO special with complimentary dessert and wine! We ordered the empanadas, party steak, papas bravas, and polenta and everything was so delicious. Marco also made a good wine recommendation and let us taste before we decided. Service was top notch throughout our meal and we will be back!

Listen, listen, listen... I can't stop reminiscing on my experience at El Che for my birthday. I have a tradition of dressing up, going to a nice restaurant, and treating myself. This year I chose El Che and they did not disappoint. I chose a high-top table for dinner. My waiter (and I'm sorry I don't remember his name because he) was AMAZING! Because I was dining alone, he offered to let me sit at the chef's table! That alone blew my mind, but he was attentive to me all night with suggestions and goodies. He made my night special, and I am so thankful for that. If I could have afforded to tip more, I would have! And don't get me started on the food! I chose El Che specifically for the Mar de plata and it did NOT disappoint! Everything that crossed my tastebuds had so much flavor! I was in heaven! Sitting at the chef's table to experience everything was the ultimate icing on the cake! I can't recommend this restaurant enough. They treated me like royalty on my special night and I am forever grateful for that experience.

Very nice décor , really good food & good service ! The waitress was thorough with her explanation . Specially that the dishes should be shared given the large portions. What more can you ask for right ? My only con is the prices. It's a little on the expensive side but , then again , you get what you pay for right ?! Recommended .

Very nice atmosphere and service. They were delayed in seating us because it is busy but the gave us a free drink for waiting which was nice. The beef empanada and chorizo were pretty tasty. I got the surf and turf and it is so yummy. My husband got the strip which he said was ok but he probably should have gotten the filet instead. The broccolini and fries on the side were great accompaniments. They have a nice selection of non alcoholic drinks and I really enjoyed the martini one as it was not too sweet which is usually an annoying problem with mocktails. Service was efficient and they never let our water get too low. All in all great experience! I would come again :) my husband likes more of a standard steakhouse ??‍♀️?

Very bad service, the very rude waiter never showed up at the table to offer us something additional, something he did very well was throw the bill at us on the table so that we could leave quickly, very bad

The restaurant is in great location, with a great atmosphere. Filet was cooked perfectly, fries were tasty and the lobster was spectacular! Dip your fries in the lobster juices, be prepared to have your mind blown.

Food was exceptional and the staff was superb. The sommelier will actually consider what you want instead of just trying to upsell you. Atmosphere is perfect for an intimate date night.Ask for a side of dada sauce with your steak. Oh, and don't sleep on the salads. They are so good!

This place is so cute. As always I'll attach images for the best photo ops. I recommend wearing reds, pinks, blacks, creams/white, and greens for best complimentary images. I ordered the shrimp & oysters. I appreciated the chef allowing me to opt for lobster butter, as a topping, which was nice. The shrimp was a bit tough but it was grilled so I expected that with how busy it was. I added sea salt to the oysters & my gosh that took it up a notch! So good. I also had the Wagyu Tartare and it wasn't too bad. I enjoyed it and the bread was a perfect pairing. The broccolini was also delicious and perfect complement to my steak. I also grabbed fries which reminded me a show string fries but they were pretty delicious. My original bartender, Tre, was amazing! He gave recommendations ,as I waited on the girls to arrive, and the empanadas were amazing! Our server Stefanie (or Stephanie) was also amazing. We didn't have a large party (4ppl) but it was a fairly busy Sunday; she handled everything perfectly. When we had a confusion with our bill she was patient and had grace. Overall this place was great and I give 15/10. Perfect for the girls night (as this visit pertained) and any date night. I'd come back here for a solo meal and content alone! I would like to see a wagyu burger to pair with the fries as an option in the summer! I may be back just for the empanadas and a nice pre-game drink lol.

A bit overpriced for what it offers. Portion size for the steak was very limited. Ordered the 48oz tomahawk and it barely fed 4 people; not sure it was 48oz. Service was very good and ambience was great.

My wife and I found a last minute reservation for El Che on a Saturday night at 7:30. I've had this place on my shortlist for a while so I was pretty excited to finally try this Argentinian steakhouse. We were seated instantly despite arriving early. I ordered a dry gin martini, which was fantastic, while we shared the wagyu tartar. I've never had tartar but it was delicious. For dinner I ordered the prime cut ribeye with a side of chimichurri. It was cooked to my liking and the chimichurri added a great blast of flavor. My wife and I kept swapping bites of her fillet with dada sauce as we shared the broccolini which we enjoyed. To finish it off we shared the tasty flan and each had the espresso cocktail which was the best way to end an awesome meal. The space felt very old school steakhouse with a South American twist & laidback atmosphere. It's a bit more affordable than most Chicago steakhouses but to be it's on par if not better than any other steaks in the city.

I'm a big fan of steak, but not a big fan of the pretentious attitude of some steakhouses so El Che was the perfect place. The vibe was relaxed and comfortable, but meticulous service - our busser was constantly ensuring we had enough water and wiped down the table after our starter; she was truly fantastic. Onto the food: we ordered beef tartar as a starter, and it was served with fresh focaccia. It was absolutely fantastic and a great start to the night. I ordered the filet with dado sauce and my husband ordered the ribeye which came with chimichurri, and we shared the broccolini. The steak was perfectly cooked with an amazing sear and salt crust. We had so many choices for their wine list and loved that all of the wines were South American to fit the theme of the place. For dessert, we shared a flan (truly the best flan I've ever had) and had their spin on an espresso martini which was the perfect end to a delicious dinner. I can't wait to go back for another steak dinner and appreciated the great value for the insanely delicious food!
