I absolutely LOVED my experience at En Passant. I went last weekend with a party of 3, and we ordered the crudo, salad, terrine, burger, roasties, a house made pasta (a special), and the oatmeal cream pies. Everything was delicious - if you like terrine/pate that is a must, and the pasta was out of this world. Our server was the GM and he made the whole experience better with his energy and passion for the food and the restaurant. Ambiance was a 10/10. If you’re thinking about En Passant for any occasion, this is your sign to make a reservation or stop in!!
Food consistently good, reasonably priced. Wine list feels a little pricey with limited options miss it being a BYOB spot. When it first opened it was a 5 star -with increased popularity feels like both service and food have been overwhelmed.
Cute, inconspicuous neighborhood fine dining experience. Intimate, low lit dining room with a balanced menu and wine selections. High quality food (vegetarian friendly ?), great service, and good prices.
Wish I could review the food, but sadly we showed up on Saturday to the lights off and the door locked. Any notice informing of their closure would have been lovely, but rather we received two texts to let us know our “table was ready.” Ghosted by En Passant.
This place was delicious and full of such a lovely ambiance. The place is small/intimate and has a small bar- but I wouldn't show up without reservations. They did only let us stay at the table for 90 minutes, so don't be late! We got the goat cheese spread with their amazing sourdough bread (if nothing, get something with the sourdough bread!). The risotto was some of the best I've ever had; I'm not sure if this changes often, but we had mushroom and it was incredible. We also got the burger and taties (potatoes). If you don't like sweet, get the bacon jam on the side of the burger. The kind waitstaff talked up the potatoes, they were okay ...but they did not disappoint us with all of the other recommendations I noted here. I will definitely be back!
Food, service, and atmosphere were all excellent. Get the goat cheese!! (sadly, not pictured). We ordered the Chicken Milanese and Choucroute Garnie for entrees. Unfortunately, we loved the goat cheese too much that we did not have room for a dessert. Will definitely return to try more of the menu!
Well this is my first time here and wasn't expecting a French bistro in the middle of Sacramento and Diversey Ave in Logan Square knowing other bigger traditional French bistros in the city and in the suburbs of Chicago. From what I learned this restaurant is new and they're just starting out with the French owners. Sadly you have to be ask if you got your covid card too in which I have validation. I was given a gift certificate of $40 despite the pricing is expensive when it comes to eating French cuisine but at least it saved me the extra $40 and the tab for just 1 appetizer goes up $15 to $18.I didn't order wine either. I was going to eat here for lunch but it's strictly dinner and this would be great for young couples that are married for more than a year and want to celebrate someplace special. Ambiance is dim lit making it romantic. I did a four-course meal as that's how French like to do it versus homestyle or family served. There is no hardcopy menu as they give you the barcode on their business card to find the menu. The first course which was "Duck Confit and Apricot Terrine" was local, unique tasting and fresh which is expected in French cuisine. The "Butternut Squash" that I ordered is the next course and it was a "meh" delicious. The squash was sauteed and they used mint ranch cream sauce with either sunflower seeds or pumpkin seeds and cilantro on top for garnish. Again typical focus for French cuisine. It was when the main course and the desert was different and was more German and Indian recipes with a French mix. The main dish was "Choucroute Carnie" was where it was bratwurst and sauerkraut with a potato and some pork chop. This is something that you do not see in French cuisine but they had their twist the sauerkraut wasn't too sour. And then I finished it up with an orange buttermilk fritter which was supposed to be unique version of a Beignet with powered confection sugar but it ended up looking like an Indian dessert called "Gulab Jamun" Unlike Indian "Gulab Jamun". It was not soaking in syrup the way that is prepared and also it had more of hint orange meringue aftertaste than Maple like syrup that the way Indians prepare it. Again that's where it breaks away from being traditional French because I was expecting flan or Creme Brulee or some escargot. There is another dish there that was more Italian with Rossetti rice and mushrooms which made it more vegetarian if not vegan. I would probably come here again to try the other dishes but other than that little pricey but I guess it's for those moments that I feel I could come here and it's in Logan Square so I'm not going to Lincoln Park or West suburban Oakbrook Mall in Oakbrook, Illinois. One star taken away because of the whole new rule in Chicago about showing that your vaccinated with Covid it's already bad enough that the city has to wear a mask mandate
Great experience, wonderful service, delicious food. The duck confit terrine was perfection. The NY strip had a perfect crust. The roasted potatoes are worth the hype, simple but exquisite. The oatmeal pies were a perfect end to the meal. We'll definitely be back.
Fantastic food! Service was great as well. Our food came out at well-spaced intervals. Portions are generous.Absolutely love the orange glazed donuts for dessert.
Fanfuckingtastic food and excellent service. Great neighborhood spot. Not the greatest acoustics in the lawyers office, but the food makes up for it.

We loved En Passant and will definitely be back in the future. The highlights for us were the duck confit, goat cheese and the potatoes. When I say those potatoes were perfectly crispy, I mean literally perfect. The service was great, the ambiance was low key and intimate and the food was of course the star. Thanks for a great meal!
The food, service, and ambiance were incredible. Everything we tried was outstanding and the portions were perfect. I can’t wait to come back.
Best restaurant I have been to in a WHILE! I'm so happy to have En Passant! I love that it's BYOB. Atmosphere is very cute and the menu is small but has something for everyone. I had heard about the burger and in my opinion it's my new favorite burger in Chicago.
Great spot! Everything we had was delicious with the chicken liver mousse and steak standing out in particular. Currently BYOB too!
Loved the vibe and decor. Super friendly, charismatic manager/server. Everything we had (burger, roasties, cauliflower, oatmeal cream pie) was crazy good. BYOB for now.
