I had an incredible experience at Ghirardelli in Chicago. Their hot chocolate was absolutely amazing, rich, creamy, and perfectly sweet, like drinking melted chocolate. The staff was friendly, and the cozy atmosphere made it a perfect spot to relax. If you’re a chocolate lover, this place is a must-visit for a delicious, indulgent treat!

This place is always busy. Great ambience, smells like chocolate and amazing!

It was very busy and Christmas Eve. The line moved quickly and our food came out fast. Terry was at the register and was helpful, efficient and pleasant. The woman who delivered our items was also pleasant. Great visit.

Got chocolate lover thick shake and it was really good. You order and they will give you buzzer so you'll know when it's really. Good view to look over the bridge.

I won't be returning.

I live in the area and have visited this location many times. This last time, there was a very unsanitary smell of urine and body odor through the entire 2nd floor of the dining area, and there was a person in the corner sleeping with an open can of beer. I brought this to the attention of the management, who basically shrugged their shoulders and said it was a frequent occurrence and there's nothing they can do. The smell was so strong it resembled a public restroom, and it was utterly disgusting. I had to take my food to go, I went downstairs and set up against a small countertop - where I was immediately told they did not allow that there and I had to go up to the second floor.

Apparently they have no problem telling paying customers where to go, but are unwilling to keep their dining room pleasant for them.

For this reason, Ghirardelli has lost a customer for good, because I will forever associate their ice cream with the smell of fresh urine. This location needs a change of management and significantly improved cleanliness standards.

A perfect spot for a treat, we got the hot chocolate on a cold day. The hot chocolate was thick and creamy. There is seating inside the establishment and people are coming and going so you may have to wait a couple minutes or so for a seat but we didn’t wait long to find seating for six. There is some seating in the back where you can look onto the river and the riverwalk. It was very well decorated for the holidays.
