Constantly long line and pretty outrageous prices; $20 for ice cream. However, this was the best ice cream dish we’ve ever had. The ice cream is amazing, the syrup must be melted Ghirardelli chocolate because it’s so smooth and delicious, then there are generous bonus chunks of whatever you got. So good that we went back a second time and gladly paid $40 for 2 more ice creams.
I love this place. Always when visiting, I have to get hot chocolate.
Ghirardelli Chocolate in Chicago is definitely worth a visit, especially if you have a sweet tooth. The two-story shop is located in a beautiful historic building, and the architecture adds a lot of charm to the experience. The store is spacious, well-designed, and fun to explore, with plenty of chocolates, gifts, and treats to choose from.
We tried the ice cream sundae, and it was absolutely delicious ,rich, creamy, and generously topped with their famous hot fudge. The staff were friendly and efficient despite the crowds, and the overall atmosphere was lively and welcoming.
Whether you’re looking for a dessert break, a gift, or just want to experience one of Chicago’s iconic chocolate spots, Ghirardelli is well worth stopping by. It’s a fun destination for both families and chocolate lovers.
Best chocolate ice cream ever! Otherwise a very normal banana split. Have a lot of the sf merch inside not really any Chicago merch
Great location with a nice view of the Riverwalk. However, the ice cream and chocolate products are way too expensive. On the plus side, the restroom was clean.
Overall: Delicious ice cream with a high price tag.
The good: Rich and delicious, it definitely meets the high bar with the Ghiadelli name. The portion sizes for the sundaes were massive, and I couldn't finish (which is pretty rare for me, especially for ice cream). The order and checkout process is very streamlined and straightforward, and the service was friendly. Open later than other spots nearby.
The not-so-good: Very expensive. I wish they would knock a third off of the price for also knocking off a third of the portion size.
Top quality, will be back again!
Nothing better than chocolate and ice cream. But when you add whipped cream and a cherry on top, you have nothing to lose. Had a delicious hot fudge sundae was not disappointed. Iβm only sad that I hadnβt discovered Ghirardelliβs in Chicago sooner.
Friendly. Fast service. Orders can be placed on first floor or second floor. Fun experience for any age.
Nice spot for ice cream and chocolate.
They have lots of chocolate here + ice cream concoctions galore...a nice respite from walking Riverwalk on a hot day
Restaurantji Recommends
Always stop here when in Chicago, Best sundaes
Ghiradelli is fire. I appreciate the staffs and managers kindness to me even though I have autism and their food is amazing and really good. They cook the food fresh and ready to eat and they maintain the restaurant clean. Manager Frank is nice. Chocolate so good. Must come back. 10/10
Not worth it with poor customer service. At the counter, I asked for the menu and the lady at the counter was all bitchy and said it was posted at the start of the line. We came straight through cause there was no one else (maybe for good reason). Her tone for asking the size and flavour also needs significant improvement.

The drink is okay
But the employees are kinda rude
Nice place. If you like ice cream this is your place.
