This place is awesome. Bang for your buck coffee and if I have a rough day ahead, I need to swing by here to get it started. I mean that in terms of (I know no one will set my day on a weird path here, and the coffee KICKS).
All the workers and even the new guy and GM are great. Here’s my take — if two coffee shops are near each other, I’m going to the one with better service (it isn’t about the coffee at that point) and this one is the one 10/10 times.
Not a fan of the old guy who runs the front desk, though I wouldn’t let him taint my experience there. I do not appreciate his treatment towards the needy / homeless, though that’s his own issue.

My go-to neighborhood coffee joint. The baristas are always warm and friendly, and the coffee is solid. Never had a bad drink or experience here. I believe they source their pastries from Sweet Rabbit and their coffee from Intelligentsia.

Perfect stop for a quick coffee in a gorgeous building. I met a friend here and sat in the shop long enough to feel out the vibe. It was a good time. The coffee was exactly what I needed it to be, and I could see myself getting coffee here regularly. It seems the neighborhood agrees. There was a consistent stream of people grabbing coffee to go, and service was very quick. There was never a sense of the space being too loud or too crowded despite the number of customers. Seating was mostly barstools at a counter, and so this may not be the place to work for the day. It was a great place to have my morning coffee, wait a few minutes, and spot cute dogs on the street.

Had a pastry, which was pretty good! The biggest downside was that the front desk attendant at Lawrence House was extremely unwelcoming. I had just arrived at the lobby catching up with a friend, and he immediately confronted me about needing to buy an item at the coffee shop in order to stay. I completely understand that and more than willing to comply. However, he stood right by me, almost staring me down, then accused me of having an attitude. I did not appreciate that, and made the rest of the experience unpleasant. I’d love to come back in the future, but this experience is making me think otherwise
